Tell me if I do or don't need one.

Okay we all know I don't need one. But are they worth it? I mean, realistically, we don't do a TON of "true" hiking, more just basic walking, and even for hiking technically speaking his Puppia works just fine. We also have an EzyDog harness that I use for activities on a long line or around the water, but it sits up too high on his throat and causes him to gag if he even slightly pulls while on a 5-6ft leash soooo that's more of our beach-activity type harness. He's got his leather step-in harness for "nicer" things like city walking etc. Sooo I mean all his things have a purpose.... really :rofl1:

I have a $25 Brookestone gift card and they sell Ruffwear stuff and the harness is $40 so just trying to decide if it's truly worth it, if you think it'd be too "bulky" for a 17lb dog or not, or how soft it is or if it's a bit stiff and maybe not very comfortable etc....

I could find something else pet-related on brookestone as well so just debating! ha

I actually really like it. Kimma hates harnesses, but doesn't seem to mind this one. It doesn't look like it messes with her movement at all and it seems pretty comfy. She weighs 19lbs, but is leggy, so probably taller than Jackson. We have been using it everywhere - neighborhood, parks, hiking... I just ordered one for Jari for his birthday :D

ETA - I don't have any use for the front clip option thing, so I can't speak for that. I'm not sure if you would be needing anything like that either.

I really like it! No, you probably don't need it, I don't think it does anything most other harnesses don't do, but it's well constructed and cute. I wasn't sure I liked the fit until I tried the smaller size and now I like it a lot. I use it as a car harness too since it has a wider chest area than my standard h-harness.

Gratuitous cute Watson picture:

I adore it. Buy one. I own 4.

They're also coming out with a crash tested seatbelt for the car soon that is very similar, Laura!

I am borrowing one to see if I like it, which I do! It's a secure and easy to put on harness.

My only problem is that I don't have anything to do with it, so I don't know that I will be buying one. For daily walking, I have a comfort flex. For hiking I have a webmaster and am hoping to save up for their double back... also for the type of hiking I tend to do, I wouldn't use the front range.

I'm going to be the odd one out and say that I do not like mine... It sits pretty high on my dogs for some reason and resides to close to the neck for my likings. I'm sure it would be fine to use, and I was using it about once a week for canicross, but not something I would purchase again.

Too bad Jax doesn't like pink! Hah

They actually sent us one by accident when I ordered their Cloud Chaser coat. I sent it back, but tried it on first. It was definitely way too heavy and bulky for Lola, but she's also pretty teeny.

I have one for Briz and I love it. It doesn't seem to alter his movement at all, and I love the way the straps stretch just a tiny bit for shock absorption.

What size did you get? I had that issue with the medium, but not when I went down to the small.

I reaaaally like mine! I love how they fit, I love the range of motion the dogs have in them, they way the sit on them. Nothing seems to rub and they just seem really nicely made.

I'm very impressed with them!

Thanks for all the feedback. I still can't decide hmph. The reason I'm hesitant is for the reasons Meagan posted... I keep looking at the harness and admiring it but just can't tell if I'd actually LIKE it on him/the way it fits... he tends to fit Ruffwear stuff odd too (lifejacket didn't fit him right and neither did one of their jackets)... according to measurements he would be an XS though. But it does seem to have mostly positive reviews! I'll prob sit on it another day or two before deciding to just spend the money on it or something else... there's not a lot at brookstone for under $25! lol

Just order and return if it doesn't fit? I ordered a small and a medium, because Watson measured into a small but I didn't believe their size chart :p I tried both on him and sent back the medium.

Or do you guys have someplace where you could take him in and try one on him?
Someday I aim to take Lily to REI with me and see how it fits her... Really interested in using it for visibility during hiking and long line park/trail walkies in town. Especially since they have that pink which would match her current "I'm not a wolf" collar. I suspect it rides to far forward to work for Scout though.

I don't like mine either! I'm glad I'm not the only one!

It does fit Talla pretty well, but the harness just does not work on Dobermans.
