I have a question; one of the things that throws me off about Christianity a lot is the whole 'animals have no souls'. As you see in my signature, 'Heaven can not be heaven if my dog is not there to welcome me'. And when I say this, I mean family as well.

In the mind of a Christian, I see it being like this: All God's creations are equal. I see them as all going to heaven (aside from the humans who are intelligent enough to know about God). Otherwise, why would he create them and the other many species? For help? Then why when we grow attatched to them would he take them away from us? My friend believes that all the good of Earth (also God's creation) will be heaven which will constitute animals as well. If you think about it, without the bad on Earth, it'd be a pretty sweet place. :D And Adam and Eve also called it paradise, until the devil came and screwed it all up... BUT at this point, he won't be around to do that.

My friend ALSO said that no where in the bible does it specify that animals will not be in heaven.

Does anybody have any scriptural evidence of this or anything similar?

I don't know which "Christians" you are refering to, but I know for a fact that Catholics believe animals have souls. Why would we have Saint Francis (Patron Saint of Animals) if we didn't? We also have a special "bless your pet" day at church once a year. :)

Right, BigDog . . . Only certain franchises of the Christian church embrace a dogma that doesn't include dogs . . . or any of the other creatures of the earth. That always seemed contrary to the idea that God knows when the tiniest sparrow falls . . .

Umm.. I'm sooo sorry to have to say this, but Catholics do NOT believe animals have souls. We believe heaven and earth and all living creatures were created by God, but only human being were created in God's image & likeness, and thus are the only creature that has souls. Catholics believe that Heaven is NOT a physical place, but a state of being in God's presence for eternity. Heaven is when our soul are being face-to-face with God, the angels & all the holy souls that have passed before us (the saints). As for whether there are animals in heaven, and how they'll be different from they are now, I guess no one can say for sure :)

Catholics are called to care for all living things, specially animals, because God's placed them under our care.

Our parish also have "Bless your pet" day :). I love it 'coz that's when I can see so many different types of animals at Mass!!!

I was christian and I converted to being Lutheran. That was just one reason why...

I truelly believe animals go to heaven. Humans are just ignorent and show it by thinking innocent animals do not go to heaven- yet we humans do!

Moonchild, Lutherans are a sect of Christianity. The Lutheran church traces its beginnings to the Ninety-five Theses that Martin Luther nailed to the door of the Wittenburg Cathedral, thus beginning what history has called the Reformation and the Protestant arm of the Christian church.

A link with good information: http://www.educ.msu.edu/homepages/laurence/reformation/Luther/Luther.htm

I don't know if animals go to heaven. I love them but if they don't I can understand why. I do not believe animals are equal to humans. God told Adam to care for the animals, and only Adam was created in God's image as someone said earlier. And in heaven nothing that was important to us now will be important to us then. We change, we ourselvses aren't even in our bodies when we get there. However I don't know where it says if we don't go either. Most of these points were already discussed but they are what I know on the subject.

No one can know for sure if animals go to heaven, just like no one can know for sure that heaven even exsists.

You either believe or you don't, and if you do then you can choose to believe that your pets will be there with you. That's as good as it's ever gonna get for us untill our time comes and we find out for certain.

Really? Have you gotten a personal message from God telling you so?
We can BELIEVE it exsists, but there is no hard proof. No science telling us it's so. Belief is as good as it gets for now.
