Yes, just like Saje, I'm having a pulling problem too.
Lets just say, my situation is a bit different. This
is my third thread today, but hey! I'm having a lotta
problems with my dogs! Anyways, my jack russel Isabel has
been pulling ever since she was a puppy. She pulls so hard that
she is standing on her hind legs sometimes! You can even her breathing
really hard as she pulls. Poor Isabel. :(
How can I teach her to walk properly? I thought a harness
might help but my mom and dad don't think so.

My best friend had this problem with her Basset Hound, he is still very energetic on the lead but considerably less 'pull-y'. You need to ensure that when you are walking your JRT the collar is right behind his ears, so the lead is in a straight line almost vertical from the collar to your hand, make sure that the collar isn't too loose as you need to be able to 'feel' the dog at the end of the lead. If s/he starts to pull correct the position of the collar/lead and STOP WALKING! As soon as the dog stops pulling and turns round to find out why you've stopped give him/her lots and lots of praise and then start walking again. It will take time but it does work! Like all training consistancy and persistance is the key. If you get a halter please do not get one that goes around the dogs nose as this can irritate under the dogs eyes.

Good Luck!
