Who's tried it? Does it actually work like they say? Good things/Bad things to say about it?

No, it's not for me........my son is wanting to try it. He gets a pimple here and there, and he is VERY vigilant about face washing and pimple treatment. He uses a medicated scrub along with spot treatment for ANY pimple he gets.

Honest to goodness, I don't think he has acne bad enough to order this stuff.......we are talking MAYBE 3-4 pimples a month, but he's anal about it and it's HIS money 'cause I'm not buying it for him, LOL

So let's hear it..........

I've tried it... my dad ordered it for my mom a few years back. She used it and I used it.
It didn't work for either of us.
I've also heard that apparently prolonged use can permanently affect the ph balance of your skin so you can have problems where you didn't before but I don't know that I believe that.

It absolutely dried out my brother's skin to the point he had flakey patches for months after he stopped using it.

I recommend tea tree oil, it works well and doesn't sap all the moisture out of the skin. Plus it's all natural :)

One of my best friends has always had really bad acne and proactive was the only thing that worked for her. It doesn't sound like your son's acne is bad enough for the whole treatment, BUT they have this one awesome product that you can use when you're just starting to notice a pimple pop up.. you rub it on the pimple and it goes away!! and it DOES work!!! I had a pimple starting the night before my wedding and my friend gave me that stuff to use and it worked like a dream :) If he just gets a pimple here and there, that might be enough for him.

Personally I like AcneFree which is almost the same thing but cheaper and worked great for me. I can't say it worked better because I only used that but I've heard from a lot of people that they've tried both and AcneFree worked best for them

I tried AcneFree too and that didn't work either... sigh.

I also just returned product to The Body Shop yesterday that was tea tree oil because it was breaking me out and the woman at the store told me it was probably because I don't have oily skin, and unless you have really oily skin ALL over your face it can end up being too strong for you.
I have a new product from them but I haven't tried it just yet. I got the stuff for combination skin instead.

There's also a Clinique three step set and a lot of people have told me THAT really works... it's expensive though. =/

All my beuticians have said its terrible for your skin.

I can't seem to find something that really works for me, even when my skin hasn't really got any pimples, my pores are huge and I have constant blackheads. I don't think I'll ever have really good skin.

I currently use a seaweed cleanser, toner and moisturiser from the body shop. The last wek I've only been using the cleanser to see if that makes a difference. It keeps my face pretty clear, I just don't have a really good complexion.

I've got huge pores too and blackheads (they RARELY turn into pimples tho). If you find something that works, let me know. I always feel so ugly with my skin because of my humongous pores :(

Proactive worked GREAT for me :)

problem with it is, if I forget to use it for even one day... my face FREAKS OUT and breaks out all over the place

Now I use nutrogena and im very happy with it, its not as WOW EFFECTIVE as proactive but once I got rid of the problem with proactive, I switched to nutrogena and its great for keeping my face blemish free

in other words, proactive got rid of the problem.. nutrogena keeps it that way :)

so if you have skin that has bad pimples then I would go with proactive, but if you just looking for something to keep breakouts away then i would go with nutrogena

I use it and LOVE it... It is a great face wash system to prevent you from getting any skin problems... I only use it once a day, not twice so it tends to last longer then they say the kit is for.

The spot treatment wc is talking about comes free with the kit and is pretty amazing, smells awful but works great, LOL.

Ive never tried it, but always wanted to. The only time my face is clear is when I am pregnant. Right now I am using neutrogena rapid clear treatment pads. Its just salicylic acid, which is what most acne treatments are made out of in stores. It can dry your face out bad if you use it too much. It helps keep my face from being oily and causing pimples. I still get pimples but the amount I get is reduced.

I use: The Oil Cleansing Method - A simple, cleansing facial massage for clear skin!

This might seem a little 'new-agey' but if you go out and read people's opinions of it, in most cases it's doing a lot of good things! You can make up your own mixtures and research which oils work best for your skin (Jajoba is great!) and if you source your oils well it doesn't have to break the bank either.

There are also many products from Lush which might work well for your son. Not exactly cheap but much more affordable than proactive.
