thanks guys... Shes about 16 inches...which is pretty much what females do in captivity. Males get bigger/bulkier. Shes a charater...with luck she'll live 30 years or more 
Shes basically a giant betta fish.
because of the size of my ponds I only do goldfish. Koi are not harder, per say, they just need much much much larger ponds because they get so big, hence more filtration, space, electricity etc etc.
The hard part is letting go of the money to buy the stuff, figure for a couple hundred gallon pond, theres the liner, the filter, the uv sterilizer etc. Keeping the fish alive tho, IMO is cake.

my cichlid tank
unfortunatly the pictures arnt that great.
Dot: a red zebra cichlid and Stripey: a lone tiger barb (whos holding his own in the tank)
OBee One (OB1): hes a orange blotch (hence OB) wich is a red zebra x peacock mix, hes about 5 inches and the tank bossy boots
Freckles: hes a blueberry peacock (another mix of peacock and something) hes my favorite and pics just dont do him justice, hes pink, white, orange, purple and blue with navy and black freckles!
Dot: the red zebra
Little Red: hes also a red zebra and looks identical to Dot other than he has 2 egg spots! (both are males, no agression though)

a better one of OB1 (you can kinda see his cheek patches, hes got these stunning irridescant silver spots neer his gils!)
Jules: this is our little male red jewel cichlid, hes a South american species and i wouldnt normally mix South americans with africans but hes doing great in the tank and needed a good home, if trouble starts hell be moved to his own private quarters.
Unfortunatly hes impossible to get a good picture of with my camera, but hes a gorgeous red with black spots on his body and shines with those turquoise/blue irridescant freckles all over his head, fins and tail, hes one of my favorites and i didnt like south americans much before him. hes a little more shy than the africans though...
he is the smallest in the tank (after stripey the lone tiger barb lol)
Tank: hes a common pleco, he was in a bad situation before hand with his brother Dozer, while this tank isnt perfect and they will eventually outgrow it, they are doing great in this tank and stand up well to the cichlids
Dozer: (the other pleco) you can tell the difference between him and tank because dozer has light colord band over his "shoulders" (i think that little red in the picture with him, but its impossible to tell those 2 apart if i cant see their egg spots lol!)
so yeah, thats my cichlid tank...
i need more cichlids!
