!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE SAVE HEIDI!!!!!!!!!

I have only had ONE serious couple look at her everyone else offers to crate her in their basement!!!! Crating Heidi like that would be a fate worse than death!!SHE NEEDS PEOPLE!!!! She has always been allowed free reign of the house, has never been tied up in fact she thinks she is too good to be tied up, and she would be RIGHT! She doesn't run away, and ALWAYS comes when called!

No she hasn't been to the vet in a while and that is because I can't even afford my own medical care!!! I have called several vets and the cost for first time visits seems to vary between 80 dollars and 120 dollars. I do NOT have that kind of money! She is over weight but that can be fixed! She needs a job to do and someone who can spend time with her!!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE SAVE HEIDI!!!! I SWEAR SHE IS THE BEST DOG YOU WILL EVER FIND!!!!!!

I cannot stress how wonderful this dog is, and how desperate the situation is! We do not have long! I have to be out of my house by March 17!!!!

She is a 7 year old border collie mix. I trained her as a Hearing Assistant dog for myself but I never had her certified. To the best of my knowledge after speaking with the county auditors office getting Heidi's license with the county again would be as simple as having a prescription from your doctor saying you need a dog like her. !!!!! ITS FREE !!!!! That is what I did when I was training Heidi, I then forgot about the certification process. So she isn't certified but she could be.

If you are looking for a dog who will jump right into working that would not be the case with Heidi. She is extremely well trained and does remember her lessons and how to work, I have ran her through a few practice sessions and she did everything very well. She would need continued practice but Heidi would LOVE to have a job again!!!! The level of Heidi's training, excellent behavior and over all intelligence is just phenomenal!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THIS IS ONE DOG YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The perfect fit home for Heidi would be one where there are no other animals. She gets along with them and has always had other animals around her but typical of border collies Heidi is independent and would prefer to not be bothered by other animals.

She would be simply awesome with an older couple or a single companion for a single older person.

She gets along with children as well but will often get up and go lay down some place where the kids wont bother her. She is not a biter or snapper!! she has NEVER harmed a single soul!!!!

She is large and black with a white chest and tips on her toes. Apparently people are wary of black dogs! Two people who were going to come see her backed out as soon as they heard she was black! That's just silly in my opinion, the color of her fur has NOTHING to do with the wonderful lady she is!

It is breaking my heart to have to re-home Heidi, I love her dearly but there comes a time in your dogs life when you have to love them more than you love yourself and do what is best for them NOT you. I can no longer afford to take care of her, I lost my job, my home, and am having to move out of state for work and a place to live.

PLEASE CALL ME SOON!!! MY ONLY OTHER OPTION IS TO PUT HER DOWN!!! PLEASE HELP HEIDI!! SHE HAS A LOT OF LIFE, AND LOVE TO GIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures usually help with getting people interested, so we can help spread the word.. also, people dont tend to respond well or open threads with a bunch of these "!". forums are weird about that ive noticed, probably because threads with a bunch of punctuation in the title tend to be spam

contact your local rescues and ask if they can put heidis picture up on their petfinder site. or try an ad on craigslist/newspaper (dont forget to screen people carefully)

finding a home for a 7 year old mixed breed isn't easy, but it is possible. first step would be to get some pictures of her. outside for the best lighting if possible and maybe a video of her..

Also, try talking to the place where you are moving. she IS a service dog regardless of any papers... so show them the note from your doctor. even if it just buys you a bit more time because 7 days isnt a lot of time to find a home for a dog like heidi

Best of luck! Im sorry for your situation, I hope things turn out ok

Hi Teri,

Have you contacted BC rescues in Ohio?

This one says they take BC mixes, space permitting: Buckeye Border Collie Rescue

There is a contact email address on the page linked above.

There is no required certification process for assistance dogs under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

I would suggest you contact some organizations that train hearing dogs, and see if they know anyone who wants a hearing dog but for whatever reason does not want to apply for one and be put on the waiting list. It's probably a good idea to send a video of the dog doing sound alerts, to get the organizations' attention. :)
