Be it a rural old town, a lake where you go camping, up the path by your house, the dog park or to the petstore. Where do you like to take your dog?

One of my favorite places of all time I like to take Bandit but don't get to too often is to Barnston Island. It's a rural little island in Surrey (though it's not considered Surrey) that you can only get to via ferry. If you can even call it a ferry. It's like a little floating parking lot that can hold six cars that is pulled over the river via tug boat. It takes like two minutes. The whole island takes about 2 hours to walk around. It's rural and I wish I lived there. I walked around the island today with Bandit and Briggs. Every yard has a ton of dogs. I got to see a smooth Collie and four Great Danes!

There is no parking on the island at all, there aren't any stores but man do I ever loev it there. The ferry guy who loads everyone on has dog cookies. Bandit loved him.

The island

The only way on or off unless you own your own boat

Oh wow, that looks really cool :)

Honestly, I hate taking Chloe anywhere because of the way she acts in the car...

but we do go to the park and Petsmart sometimes

I have different places that I love taking each dog to.

For Taz it's Killynether woods

For Fudge it would be the Quarries or the beach

For Scamp it would be the Warren or the beach

For Tika it would be The old monastery or the walk round by where the house I really wish we could buy is lol

I would LOVE to go to either of those places! I am totally jealous!

I like to take Maddie everywhere with me  I have too many places to list, but I'll pick a few of my favorites ;) And hopefully I get Bailey to the point to where she can go everywhere with us as well :)

The campground is probably Maddie's favorite! My grandparents are also there (seasonally) and she loves them, but the land and scenery is beautiful, we can go off-leash hiking in the woods, there are tons of places to walk, nice people to meet, a beautiful lake, etc etc
(pic taken off of their FB, too lazy to find one of my own lol)

Any of the metro parks around here... some of them are nicer than others, but I love going to all of them. Especially if they are not too croweded ;)

they give dog's ice cream with dog bones in it lol and to the right is a really nice place to sit and eat outside... another favorite spot lol

As for traveling, there's this dog park in MI that we really like, 3/4 fenced in, the 4th side is the river for the dogs to swim (which Maddie loves) its worth the drive, if the weathers nice. Good for something to do lol

Probably one of my favorites is Hocking Hills. BEAUTIFUL scenery... lots and lots of walking... Love it! Also worth the drive ;)

Tiffany had fun in Door County, Wisconsin. She even swam a little bit at the beach.

(lol at my parents in the background)

Locally, she likes to go to the Riverwalk

There are also a lot of dog-friendly stores nearby (including a dog boutique where they give her treats...I swear, she knows how to find that place and always drags me there haha). One of my favorite bars nearby allows dogs on their patio in nice weather. She enjoys going there because if she's good, she might get a little bite of people food.

Brattina, I love Hocking Hills. I wish I could take my dog to Hocking, but it's about a 4-5 hour drive from where he lives with my parents.
:) It's about 3-4 hours for me. I usually make it a weekend getaway kind of trip, and stay the night at a hotel before heading back. Plus, we're usually pretty bushed afterwards because I always try and see everything :p haha... And I love to see Lake Logan when the sun is setting  lol

I like taking Lola with me to the dog park's, the nursing/rehab home, Pet Smart and a Petco that recently opened up in our town. I also take her to the beach which is right across the street and unlike anotger beach she can be on this beach year round.

There is another beach that I have had her on but that beach is on a peninsula where one side is the ocean and the other side is the bay. On the bay side the dogs are allowed year round and on the ocean side they are not allowed "Prohibited from Ocean Beaches at Sandy Hook National Seashore from March 15th through Labor Day." Which means if you want to walk your dog on the Ocean side in the dead of winter and freeze your butt off :yikes: you will be fine but this is one beach that always has a breeze blowing and the winters on that peninsula can be brutal with the wind.

Their is also a park across the street that I like to take Lola to and that park runs parallel to the beach that she can be on year round. That park is a county park that was created by kicking people out of their homes and tearing them down. They were paid for them but with Eminent domain they don't pay the market value.

That park is now just an open field with trees that hardly anyone uses and when someone is their they are their with their dog on a leash walking though. Since no one really uses it I called the county park system director and told him that since they kicked people out of their homes and since it is wide open with hardly anyone using it and it not having any particular purpose other than open land I would like to see it made into am off leash dog park. We already have two in the county but a lot of people are not willing to travel from this area especially with the prices of gas. He thought it was a good idea and now wants me to write a letter that he can present to the board.

I however will not be writing a letter but instead getting a petition formed instead because I think that will have more of an impact than a letter and it will also give them an idea that it will be used by many people for them and their dogs. I'm hoping to get around 500 signatures and being that their is a lot of dogs in this area that people have as a part of their family I think it should not be a problem getting it done. The problem is though I have never written a petition for anything let alone a dog park so I don't really know what to put in it.

Instead of people giving me ideas here and not wanting to hijack this thread I have created another post here http://www.chazhound.com/forums/t133551/#post1802746

Waterton Lakes National Park

Within there is Red Rock Canyon

Cameron Lake

Bears Hump

It's all good fun out there. About a 1.5 hour drive from my house and it costs i think $14 to get in depending on the day.

Wow -- you guys have SUCH cool places!

I like taking Jackson a lot of places.

Every year we go to Gettysburg and always make a visit to the Shenandoah River in WV. Jackson LOVES it there. He loves both walking around Gettysburg and swimming in the river.

We go the pet stores weekly. We usually rotate between Petco, Petsmart and the local one around here. Also, the dog park. We have 2 dog parks we frequent that he loves!

Camping with my dad. Any camping trip we take in the RV and Jackson is in Heaven (though riding in the actual RV makes him super nervous).

Beaches. There's a few small beaches near my aunts house that we visit a lot in the summer.

I don't know, Jackson's pretty game for anything and I'm not sure I have a favorite.

I'm not sure if Quinn has a favorite - she just loves hiking anywhere.

The big dog park that Tankstar goes to too is wonderful. It's all sand, so it's not muddy which is great in the spring (our local dog park is disgusting right now!), and absolutely huge. You can stay in the main area which is super open and great to let the dogs socialize and play, or you can go off on your own and hike for a couple of hours. It's like dog paradise!

There's also a local conservation area which is nice. I haven't been in there since it's warmed but but it was a nice hike even when it was freezing outside.

My favorite is probably some trails 5 minutes away. We used to ride in there all the time when we boarded at a barn down the road (which is strangely now owned by the herding trainer we're taking Quinn to). I believe it was an old gravel pit so you can walk around the edge of it which is very cool, and there's some hiking trails in the wood. If you go back even further there are some gorgeous meadows. I can't wait until it warms up again so I can take Quinn there more often and for a longer period of time.

IDK, Quinn was a winter puppy so we haven't had a huge opportunity to explore. We quit going to the above trail this winter as the snow would get so deep it was impossible to walk in. Once it warms up I'd like to take her to some more places and I'd love to hit up some beaches.

We don't really have any cool, dog friendly places around here which kind of sucks.

I do like to go down to Turkey Run every so often with the dogs, but it is an hour drive and the gas kills me. Not to mention Chloe spazzes the entire drive down, which is no fun. I think I'm going to rope my friend in to going down with me and the dogs on Friday, if the weather is nice and we don't have an exam. Kiba would LOVE it down there, and Chloe always has a blast, too.

Well we live right across the street from a park :) which is great! they have a bunch of things and a great dog play area and dog beach!

There is also one small part of beach on the main beach that dogs are allowed :) always great fun!

Lincoln road, which is basically a pedestrian mall, is also one on of the funnest places to take your dog!

OH - I forgot Bass Pro! There's a big Bass Pro outlet about 40 mins away and it's awesome. It's so huge and has so much stuff and most importantly it's totally dog friendly. It's great for training and socializing - next puppy I get is going to Bass Pro weekly, LOL.

Hopefully when Izzie and I get our newer car we can do a trip to some places in BC. Right now that's too long of a trip to take in my car since i don't have A/C. I wanna go pick up my own BC Peaches!

I love to take the dogs camping, just me and them. Mostly just state park car camping. Or a couple of times my husband and I have rented dog-friendly cabins on the North Shore or Gunflint Trail. Just hang out and do a lot of hiking. In fact, in just about a month I'll be taking Squash on his first camping adventure! :)

ETA: Here's some pictures.

Hiking up in the Gunflint... we went in the off season and some areas were so remote that even Maisy could safely be off-leash.

And some of just plain old car camping...

And how could I forget Pip chasing waves at Superior LOL?
