Wow, Tucker. I'll summarize your argument with this "you can't breed unless it furthers the race". Does this theory apply to humans as well? I'm guessing you don't get invited to many baby showers.

Yes, that IS my argument. Unless you are furthering the breed you have no business breeding!

No, it does not apply to humans. Human babies don't get euthanized by the millions .

I don't agree... did you know Yorkie-Poos have been recognized as their own breed now? So really I have a pure breed dog! Change is inevitable... its not the breed that needs to be a concern, its who is allowed to own dogs.

Mixed breeds that are now recognized have been done for generations . I feel that the Australian will soon be recognized . This doesn't mean that every first time Lab/Poodle mix should be labeled a Labradoodle . After owning Goldens for 60 years , when I lost my last in July , I found Ollie on petfinder ....he was labeled Golden/Poodle mix .......his Golden look sold me and cost me $150 . I'll never call him a Goldendoodle !!

Its been my understanding that mixed breeds have less health problems than pure breeds. Not sure where I got that from, it just seems like a common knowledge around here. Aren't puppy mills usually involved in the selling of pure breeds? What does BYB stand for? LOL this makes me laugh because its almost like racism but for dogs... don't judge a doggie by who their parents were!!

Not completely true. If someone knows what they are doing they can definately help improve health. But the majority of mixed breed breeders just stick two dogs together and claim they are healthier because they are mixes .

Puppy mills will sell ANYTING they need to get money. Right now, mixes are the 'fad' so more are being produced.

BYB stands for backyard breeder. They are people who either don't care or are ignorant.

It has nothing to do about racism. We love mixes just as much as purebreds. Heck, I own a mix! We just dont support the breeding of mixes because the shelters are jampacked full of them!

As for Labradoodles, Goldendoodles... just came to mind that we recently had a "breeder" of these pups, shut down near me. Had all of her stock confiscated, placed at the Humane Society and up for adoption last month. Over 40 of them, exactly like yours. I am suprised your wife didn't see this in the news, papers, on-line, ect. People from WA., OR. and Calif. were lining up to be considered for adoption. Wish we knew you and your need for this particular mix then!! You would have been a great home for one of these rescues, would have been doing something very worthwhile and have been able to save that $2200.00 and put it to better use. Supply and demand... I'm hoping, in time, the supply of these pups has deminished because there is little demand due to better education on the publics part.

I hope the breeder is satisfied. They've just made plenty of money selling an over-hyped mutt to an uninformed sucker.

While I often post before checking my spelling, Lol... I do sincerely have these dogs best interests at heart. (And yours travisk) I do deal with many heart broken client/owners, who've purchased one just like yours. Again, I just think your pups breeder and paperwork warrents further investigation, just for your peace of mind.

I think the big craze for the poodle mixes is mostly for animal lovers who are allergy sufferers. I get hives from most dogs, except for those with the poodle fur... or a havanese or bichon type fur... chow chows too...
I think its just fun to name them that way for some people, I wouldn't call it a new breed just because someone decides to put 2 names together.
I do feel that a breeder should be able to breed whatever they want as long as the health of the dogs is their first priority.

If it was okay for a breeder to breed whatever they want, then breeds would altogether disappear.

There are plenty of pro-allergy breeds. Why do we need more?

There are so many breeds already in existance that are good for allergies... poodles (and they come in 3 sizes!), malteses, yorkies, bichons... only to name a few

If you breed a poodle x golden/lab/whatever, not all of the puppies are going to look the same! Some will have the poodle coat, some will have the golden/lab/whatever coat, and some will have mixed coats. That is the problem with this argument!

probably because a Havanese is $$1200-1500 as compared to a Yorkie-poo who is $$300-500.
also size or temperment could be an issue.

Speaking of doodles, this breeder charges based upon 3 levels of doodles (basic, gold, and platinum). The platinum doodle is $4500 , but they have a 1 time "accidental death" dog replacement. They also sell warrenties on their dogs!
