Ok. When you go past a pet store that sells puppies can you not help it but go inside? But once you get inside and look at all the puppies and all the people oggling and talking about buying one of the puppies you get so mad and have to leave or you just blow up with intense furry?

Well.. thats me this weekend Tyler and I went to PJ's pets in our local mall. I like to look at the puppies, but Tyler always ends up pulling me out because I get so mad LOL!

there was these two great Dane puppies that were in the middle of the store in an X pen and they were so Badly bred I could not even fiqure out if they were pure breds or mutts. I had to look at the tag and then I was still second guessing myself. Augh Pet stores that sell puppies make me so ANGRY

Yup, I've gotten thrown out of stores before. And I can't keep my mouth shut when people try and hock puppies outside of grocery stores or Wal-Mart either.

I can't even go in. They make me sick. And they did long before I knew anything about puppy mills. I saw a papillon in the mall pet store window on Saturday, first time ever....I didn't even know they sold them in pet stores. :(

That same day I saw Pap puppies too at the petstore the first time as well. It just makes me sick.

I most be lucky, our pet stores don't sell puppies or even kittens. I remember when I was really little I wanted a puppy form a store in the mall. I was like five though.

Oh yes. My cousin dragged me into one the other day and half the breeds there were in unacceptable colors. 'Rare' particolor schnauzers, merle rat terriers, merle american pit bull terriers, etc.

Oh, I see paps a lot in stores. there's a breeder that sells to one of the stores back home all the time. One thing I've noticed though is many pet store papillons are not papillons or at least not fully. most are puppies and much bigger than my adults already,

I completely agree. It makes me so angry and I have anger issues at the best of times lol (Everyone thinks it's the red hair) I am still so angry that Petland came to town and Pet Cetera left. Pet Cetera had dogs in there from the SPCA, through the SPCA. And cats. That's all they had for dogs and cats. Petland comes along, they have walls of puppies and kittens, they took all the business, and pet cetera ran out of business. I tend to take a quick stroll by but I don't last long there. I gotta teach my son the right way to act, and the right way to act is not flipping out at the people who work there lol....And that's what I would do if I stayed. Could just see him, 3 yrs old, yelling at people who do this, when really that isn't going to help anything. I just wish there was something worthwhile I could do. I despise that place.

Another thing that ticks me off is that people who buy Pet store puppies have no idea that they could go to a good breeder for a pup that has health testing ect ect.. for the same price or less that they pay for a pet store puppy. Petstore puppy's prices are retarded. But I guess what draws people in is that they can go on a pay plan where they pay X amount every month to pay off the puppy.

There's always Pug puppies or Pug mixes in the 2 puppy stores here...

It makes me so so sad... I actually talked a lady out of buying a petstore Pug to go with her petstore Chug by explaining the healthy problems Pugs have and how going to a responsible breeder minimizes the risks of the problems. Most people though, are just too googley eyed over the cute puppies and kittens to care... They had Bullmastiff puppies at the evil petstore, yeah just what we need... irresponsibly bred impulse bought bullmastiffs...

Yep, totally. Problem with my area though is even if people do know they can go to a good breeder, they don't have the care to put forth the effort. As far as I've found, there is not one reputable breeder less than 800km away. Tons and tons and tons of poor puppies in the bargain finder, and on ads all over town around holidays though :-(

I cant go in. I hate it and it makes me mad.

I went in to PJ's at the mall the other day. Even though Im so against buying anything from there to help suport them. I was seeing if they sold any small dryers for dogs fo home use. lucky they didnt. But I did take a gander at the puppies every single puppy was a mixed breed. not one "purebred" puppy at all. all the tags said "lab X" "PUg X", Pap X" ect all for over 1K too.

I have been called a hyprocrite for buying Blaze from a pet store, and then going around and talking about how bad they are. that was 7 years ago, when I was 16, Didnt have a computer and didnt know a thing about pet stores. live and learn. I bought from one becuase like alot of people. assume pet stores will sell healthy animals, who are well cared for ect.

I'll never do it again. but Ill never regret buying my bestfriend from that crappy store either,

You must have alot of choice where you live then. Both our pet stores in town sell puppies. Total pet isn't so bad though, They only have puppies there now and then and it's only max 2 different litters. I think they take puppies from people who want to get rid of their puppies. I thought they were bad until Petland came to town.

Yes exactly! About two weeks ago my dad was up for a visit, and he I went shopping. One of the plaza's had a "Pets Pajamas" a local chain. I knew they sold puppies but hadent been in one since I was a kid.

It was disgusting and depressing. There was one glass case with four very sleepy lethargic white Boxer puppies. The rest were "Shipoos", "Yorkie Poos", Pomapoos", ect. And they were all $600-$900.

My dad isn't real dog savy. So he was all loud like "What the hell is a Shipoo?" lol.

So I told him (not quietly at all) that they were mutts. And you could get the same mutts for free in the newspaper. Or $17-$75 at our local pounds and shelters.

He was pretty shocked. And people kept giving me dirty looks. But hey the truth hurts. I know one guy who was looking next to us did take home a very sickly looking poodle mix puppy.

I think the most disturbing thing was the three puppies they put in this big baby crib. They were the only ones with an open air source. And this story is very small and very cramped to begin with. But these puppies had no interest in any of the kids around the crib (yes crib) ogling at them. And when they were picked up they were so lethargic.

Definately not how I expect puppies with lots of visual stimulation to be.

I won't be going back to a "Pets Pajamas" ever again.

But yet I still have to go in other stores if I know they sell puppies. I guess im interested to see what conditions they are in. And if they are trying to make thousands from mixed breeds.

I know one store in southern Ohio. Its not a chain. Just a little store around the corner from my dads place. And the owner doesent buy his puppies. But gets them from "oops" litters and sells the puppies at $75 at the most depending on vet care. Yes he personally has them all vetted. He does the same for unwanted kittens. And even rabbits. He said he is constantly getting boxes of puppies or kittens left at the back of the building.

I have never been kicked out, I play stupid:p

I always talk very loudly about how it smells like parvo poop and all those poor puppies are going to die or have hundreds in vet bills. Or if someone seriously looks like they are considering it I just start talking to chaz about how I can't imagine someone buying from a petstore and supporting these bad breeders when you can get one cheaper and better bred somewhere else.

I like to think I have prevented a couple buys;)

There was one pet store at the mall in I think strongsville that had all the puppies in fish tanks. It was awful. They all looked so sick and hot. They closed one down here in elyria but a supposed rescue took its place and lately I hear it is just a glorified puppymill.

Yup - the one store that has since been shut down here went into PetSmart and asked an associate there for "the biggest fish tank you have."

The other store here keeps them in cribs. Because they are "furry babies."
Vomit.

I never, ever go in or even look in the window. Being that angry is not good for me. It's even worse for the people in the store.

Yeah. I talk VERY loudly about how disgusting it is and I make sure that everyone in the store can hear me. But yeah I get really mad. The last time I went to PetLand there was a brussells griffon puppy that was so sick and young that we ended up calling AC. It's so disgusting.
