I would at least TRY to wake him up, if it didn't work then i'd say to myself... "Oh well, you've made your bed, now lie in it" lol!

Although this NEVER happens, after 8pm couch space is a premium in this house, we have 3 couches, and yet NEVER have room to sit on them, there's either a handful of cats, dogs, or a mixture of the two hogging them.

Gus is usually the first to take himself off to bed, he will stop halfway up the stairs and GLARE at me if he's deemed it bedtime and i'm not following.. He's got his bed up there, the one he has had since a pup and somehow he contorts himself into it each night to sleep.. I have NO idea why he is still so attached to that bed, it's like a comforter or something.

If you do fall asleep on the couch here, you generally wake up with an incredibly stiff neck, and a carpet of animals on you! :D

Oddly I find myself calling for Ollie when I'm in bed and he's still on the couch !

This has never happened, but I'd probably make one attempt to wake him up then leave him be. Anyone who has ever tried to wake him up will attest that he is super mean when you're trying to get him up, lol. I used to watch TV in the other room and would fall asleep on the couch every now and then. He'd always come and retrieve me, even if it took him carrying me back to bed. :p

I always fall asleep on the couch with my head in Justin's lap so he has to wake me up so HE can go to bed, and I go with him of course. He never falls asleep on the couch but I would wake him up if he did.

Well , I'm bad ! Tom's balance was very bad his last few years and when he fell it took me forever to help him get up as I couldn't lift him . I'd get him to his knees , get a chair to help him etc . Once he fell in the kitchen ( a couple of his double martinis didn't help ) and all he did was giggle and wouldn't give any effort . I finally got a pillow for his head , covered him with a blanket and went to bed with one ear open . I fell asleep but soon woke up and checked on him ~~ yup sound asleep in his bed . When there's a will , there's a way . How I loved that man for almost 50 yrs., I'll never know !

Well in the past I always let Scott sleep if he was already out cold on the couch. Reason being is that 1, he prefers to sleep on the couch because it's more firm than my bed and helps his back, 2. He's a grouchy ******* if you wake him up.

So yeah, I let the sleeping dog lie.

At least we're all honest here ! I really think it depends on how long you've been married and if you have a cuddle mate .

It hasn't happened yet to be honest, but I'd just let him sleep. Don't want to deal with the grumping if I wake him up.

Hah. I'm usually the one that falls asleep on the sofa and Matt always wakes me up. I'm usually first in bed so if he fell asleep on the sofa he'd probably end up staying there...and if he came in to get in bed I imagine I'd be hogging the whole thing. I looooove having the bed to myself sometimes.

It's never happened in our 8 years together & I don't think it ever will, as we have a habit of watching the news together & chatting each other to sleep every night :)

But if it were to happen, I think I'd be the one who takes advantage of having the bed all to myself & let him continue sleeping on the couch, and he'd be the one to wake me up. He'd said it many times that he can't sleep without me right by his side  (well, that's why it's never happened! lol)

I always wake my fiance up. If I don't then Sheena does. She does not like her pack seperated at bed time. She will pace back and forth between the rooms till she determines she has had enough and then wake him. So either way he gets woken up.

When I was married, if my husband fell asleep on the couch, I might gently shake his shoulder and tell him I'm off to bed and ask if he wants to get up and go to bed too. I knew that it was fruitless to even try to wake him up. A bomb could go off in the livingroom and he wouldn't wake up. It didn't take long for that behavior to extinguish. I soon gave up the notion and just went to bed and let nature take it's course. In the reverse, as I recall, (which isn't all that clear) he would not wake me up if I were asleep. However, I don't recall too many times where that happened. He invariably falls asleep at the drop of a hat, even now, even when he's driving. Personally, I didn't mind at all, sleeping alone. That way, I have the whole bed to myself. I do like sleeping with my Chihuahuas. They're small and they don't thrash around or snore.

Probably the best tactic would be to discuss this ahead of time, decide how you'd like this to be handled....when you're both fully awake and coherent. "Honey....if you fall asleep on the couch and I am going to bed, would you like me to wake you up? How persistent would you like me to be? Should I let the sleeping dog lie? :D. On the first try? Or the second try? Now, if I fall asleep on the couch and you're heading off to bed, would you please wake me up. Keep trying. I really would like to sleep in the bed with you. Or....Don't bug me while I'm sleeping, no matter what...unless there's a fire."

My wife goes upstairs around 9pm to get ready for bed. Then she'll read for a while. I'm not ready for bed til midnight. Sometimes I fall asleep in my chair but I always go up to bed to sleep.

kind of like DanL's house here. I go to bed first, and often Dave is still up. IF he falls asleep in his chair, he wakes up at some point and comes to bed. all I know is he's there in the morning. lol I don't ever worry about it, BUT...IF on some off chance I fell asleep, I'd sure want him to wake me and tell me to go to bed. since it never happens, I'd be sorta freaked out to wake up on the sofa!

I asked Florent what he would do should I fall asleep on the sofa.. And his reply was..

"I'd wake you up, (I started to have an "Awww" moment, but it was shortlived!) otherwise i'd have to spend the next day listening to you moan on about how your neck hurts and how tired you are, and how you haven't slept well"

And they say romance is dead! :rofl1:

Tom and I don't live together but he always wakes me up or will lay with me. If his butt won't wake up he's so tiny I can just pick him up and drag him with me.
