Whether it's husband/wife or significant other you share a living space with, LOL

Scenario opinion please :)

Your SO falls asleep on the couch and it's time for bed. They have a throw pillow and blanket already and look to be sleeping comfortably.

Do you:
1. Wake them up so they can go up to bed with you.
2. Don't disturb them and let them come up on their own if/when they wake up in the night.

I can tell you I usually wake Kevin up and ASK him if he's ready to go up to bed. I don't do it to annoy him, I do it because I want him to be comfortable in his bed and be next to me, help keep me warm and just..........well, BE THERE 'cause I love him, LOL

Last night I fell asleep on the couch, it's not something I do much at all. I had the couch throw on me and a throw pillow. I woke up on my own sometime after everyone had went to bed..........EVERYONE. The house was dark and I was ALONE ...........well except for Orson, he had chosen to stay with me and was sleeping in the chair. (not surprised, at least he loves me :p)

Anyway, when I woke up in the dark and alone I felt like Kevin didn't even care enough to wake me and ask me to go up with him :( (I know it's silly, he shows me love all the time in a million ways, but that's what I felt like at the moment, LOL)

So I felt too stubborn to go up and join him in bed! I laid back down on the couch and tried to go back to sleep.........finally managed after awhile, but it just wasn't the same, LOL When he came down this morning, he came directly to find me and asked how I slept. He said I looked very comfortable and he didn't want to wake me because he knows how I have trouble getting to sleep (which is true, but I STILL think he should have asked me, LOL)

So anyway...........what is the routine in your house for this circumstance? Or does it ever happen?
(yes, I am STILL thinking he could have asked me to go upstairs! ROFL)

Yes I always wake Brian up. although he's never laying down when he falls asleep on the couch ... he's usually sitting up with his head flopped to one side lol. so yes I wake him to go to bed. he won't get a good sleep on the couch and neither would I

although one night when we were at his parents place in florida I apparently went sleep walking and woke up out on the couch at 3 am. I was so freaked out.... and I have never been SO glad to wake up and NOT see Brians dad in all my life since I was NAKED :O but I went back into bed and in this totally freaked out scared voice I woke Brian up and said "Brian... why was I out on the couch" I think I freaked HIM out because I was so freaked ou t about it lol. so yes I would definitely want to be woken up to go to bed if I fell asleep on the couch.

I wake Justin up even if he's in bed so he can get his contacts out and brush his teeth (If he wakes up without having done those things he feels gross and has sore eyes!) So he'd definitely get woken up if he crashed on the couch :)

I would wake Jim up because if I didn't I would have to hear about his backache all the next day.

Tom was always in bed before I finished my day , but if he happened to be asleep in a chair or on the couch , I'd tell him it was time for bed and let him decide .

Dustin always wakes me up and takes me to bed with him. The one exception was when I had Mastitis, and I truthfully got a more restful sleep in the other living room on the couch, where I couldn't hear Mason during the night.

I, too, HATE waking up alone in a dark house without hubby near me. Hate it.

Course, we're also the type that have to spend at least a little amount of time cuddling, sometimes chatting, before we go to sleep. No matter how busy the day is, if we didn't see each other all day, or if it was a rough day with lots of bickering at eachother, that is our time to just be together until we get drowsy. I'd really, really hate it if he ever had to have a job where we couldn't fall asleep together, you know?

Hmmmmmm, it seems to be a trend with the ladies waking up the men, LOL

Two have voted to let them sleep, but didn't comment........wonder if those two votes came from men? LOL

I let him sleep. Having to wake someone up is my. biggest. pet. peeve. ever. If you are falling asleep and don't want to sleep on the couch.. then get up and go to bed! lol. Though if there was a reason like contacts etc then I would get him up.

I almost NEVER fall asleep on the couch so it's not really an issue on the flip side for Brian. I just can't fall asleep witht he ligths and tv on so if I'm that tired I head to Bed

And when he falls asleep onthe couch I just say "Brian... time for bed" and that's it and he's up and going to get ready for bed. plus then he doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and get in bed which would wake me up lol

I wake him up and make him get in the bed, LOL!

If I fall asleep I DO NOT like to be woken up, but I appreciate it in the morning because the couch isn't good for my back at all.

I'd wake him up, as I know he'd be saddened if I didn't.

He'd wake me up as well, but I wouldn't mind either way for myself. Not like I'm going to feel abandoned sleeping a houselength away:p

Our nightly routine is so weird, lol. We dont have a tv in our bedroom and Danny like to fall asleep watching tv plus he stays up way later than most normal ppl so around 11pm he tucks me in, childish, I know. I dont know how I started that but we do it EVERY night. I tell him when I am ready to go to bed and he walks me into the bedroom, rolls his eyes b/c I forgot to pee before I went to get him, I get into bed and he covers and kisses me. Then he goes back out to the livingroom and watches tv and falls asleep. Then he wakes up at about 2 or 3 am, turns off the tv, and comes to bed.

Lately, though, he has not been waking up until 7am or later to come to bed. If I wake up in the middle of the night to pee and he isnt there yet I go wake him and he comes to bed. The other morning I didnt wake up and go get him. He was still on the couch when I left for work at 8:30 and he said "Why didnt you come get me?" lol. I thought that was sweet.

I can't say what he would do if I ever fell asleep on the couch. That would never happen. I just cannot fall asleep if I'm not in my bed. If I did wake up alone on the couch in the middle of the night I would be sad too.

Lorri's finally started to not wake me up. And the reason I don't want her waking me up is that once I'm awake, I'm awake for at least a couple of hours....not good when I wake up at mid-night and I have to be up around 6am.

If Lorri's asleep on the couch, all I need to do is turn the lights off and go to bed. Within 10 minutes she's off the couch and in bed. Unlike me though, she can go back to sleep within a matter of minutes.

ARG this describes Brian and I only reversed LOL. right now he is snoring on the couch and I'm about to head to bed and wake him to go to bed. he will get up brush his teeth and go to bed and be asleep within a minute once he hits the pillow.

it will take me at least a half an hour or more to fall asleep the first time... but I will wake up in the middle of the night for no reason (or perhaps because hannah woke up) and be up for at least an hour or two. but if I were to fall asleep on the couch I would wake up anyway at some point and be up for a while... plus... that's the dogs space to sleep lol they would be mad if I took it :D

But yeah I totally understand that whole once awake stay awake thing. Drives me CRAZY that he can fall asleep withing seconds no matter what

I wake Robert up, mainly because if he sleeps all night on the couch he hurts his back. He is allowed to take naps out here though, lol.

I sleep alone for most/all nights anyway... the boy and I have conflicting schedules.

So, if he falls asleep on the couch, I wouldn't even notice until I came downstairs the next morning. :p

I don't like to be woken up, so if i fall asleep on the couch, leave me there until I wake up on my own.
