Tyler and I are toying with the idea of driving the Oregon coast maybe to Cali, maybe as far as into Mexico. Who knows. We are just at the reasearch phase.
It's awesome ; ) Especially if you make it while the weather's nice - temperatures are moderate, our beaches are clean, relatively uncrowded, and everything is gorgeous.
Driving crowds can be an issue. Slow moving RVs over the summer, log trucks, and I never want to see Seaside during the summer ever again (except I go back so I can toss fish to their seals).
I did that drive about a year ago, with my sister and my ex, down the coast to San Francisco. I loved it! We went in early spring so it was quite rainy, not good camping weather, but it was still totally beautiful and the roads were much less crowded. I really want to do that trip again!
Here are some of my photos (they nearly all seem to have onyx in them haha)
I used to do it every summer, Astoria to Bandon (or Coos Bay) and back. amazing food, amazing weather, amazing everything. definitely hit up agate beach, the sea lion caves, and the oregon coast aquarium
Your guys' pictures are gorgeous! I've lived in Portland my entire life and absolutely love the Oregon coast. Two weeks ago I took a trip down the coast all the way to Big Sur in California where I was backpacking for 4 days. The drive is stunning and we camped in the Redwoods the first two nights (I'd never been) and they were absolutely glorious. The Oregon beaches are generally pretty empty, and like Equinox said, they are clean and gorgeous. And I also wanted to say that Big Sur is one of the coolest places I've been and it was totally worth the 12+ hour drive.
I had a blast driving all down the coast and would definitely recommend going!
Can't say as I only have driven the California Coast but some of the pictures look somewhat similar to Central California Coastline. Either way, you can't go wrong!
