Today I figured I would give Lily a hair cut since her face and feet and tail were getting a little long. Well I decided the give her body a LITTLE trim with the clippers too on the highest clip setting. She's now almost BALD  ! I clipped so much fur off of her. She looks so small now, I think she looks hilarious but she doesn't find the humor in the situation.
Honest opinion, do you think she will ever forgive me?

Ohh Poodle puppy hair! GAH. That's murder to clip. She doesn't look too bad considering the way I've seen some poodle pups look after being clipped.

She's adorable. She'll forgive you. It'll prolley cost a few treats, though.

It was pretty hard to clip, it kept getting tangled and I even brushed it before I started trimming. It was my first time ever giving a dog a haircut so I guess I can't be TOO hard on myself, next time she'll go to the groomers though. I didn't shave her head, I left the puff on top. She's had treats and a nylabone and I think she's starting to forgive me. I'm gonna try to get her to the store for a new toy, if she can stand being seen out in public now.

She's quite the vain little diva, isn't she :D I think you did quite well, especially considering this was your first try on a wiggly, squirmy puppy with a curly, curly pelt!

We had a neighbor in North Carolina who had an Airedale, Jeff. Jeff HATED to be clipped and when he'd get home from the groomers after being clipped he'd refuse to go any farther than the back yard to do his business, then he'd make a mad dash for the house. That usually went on for about a week, until his hair grew back a little :p

She doesnt look bad, so dont put all that guilty weight on your shoulders.I think she looks rather cute :)

Here's another picture of her "suffering" from her humiliating haircut.

That is so pathetic. LOL.

Really, she looks fine. It's nearly impossible to make puppy hair look perfect, you did a good job.

And don't shave that topknot! I think it's adorable.

You did a pretty good job! You are braver than I am! :) I do an occasional trim on the face but have never attempted clippers.

Warning tho - spoos really know how to milk the "make Mom feel guilty" trip! ;)

The last time my wife and I trim a dog was my dad's cowdog. We trim a little too close and the dog got a monkey butt. He never got hair on this rear again. That was the last time I will every cut any thing hair.

I think you did a great job! I remember giving Eli his "summer cuts"... his flags on his legs, chest, and belly... and then on to those toe tufts! His feet would be so chopped up... it was like "Tanks, Mamma! It wooks like my feet got caught in a tlap!!"

Thanks! I guess that I didn't do as bad of a job as her and I thought. We took her out tonight and a woman had asked me if I had just got her back from the groomers and I said no I had just groomed her myself though. She said that she looked just as good as when her miniauture poodle comes back from the groomers.

I have to confess, When I resuced Maggie she had mats in her hair. A friend of mine said she had clippers and I proceeded to clip her. The poor dog. No wonder she spent so many months hiding under our bed she was embarrased. My husband nick-named her spike form the movie Gremlins. I never attempted it again. However it looks like you did a pretty good job. I don't see any major nicks like Maggie had. Yes, Lilly will forgive you even with that evil look in her eye.

she's got a few nicks, mostly on her feet because she wouldn't stand still. I'm going to try and smooth out her coat a little tomorrow though.

well if you give her nicks..shes not gonna want you to cut her hair anymore.lol

Well she's fine this morning, I think she has forgiven me. She cuddled up with me this morning after I let her out and snuggled for a while before breakfast. So I think she has gotten over it, she probably feels a little better without so much hair.

You did a great job shaving her feet. Lots of professional groomers never get it so clean on their first try. What clipper and blade did you use?

I just used my husband's goutee trimmer for her feet. They got nicked a little because she kept twitching but not too bad. I need to get a real set of dog clippers if I want to keep grooming her though. It took me two hours to get her how she looked in the pictures and she was pretty good through it all. I did a little bit more evening her out today and that took about half an hour but she looks good, now she needs a bath and she'll be all set.
