Eh, people have been saying Obama is the anti-christ for a looooooong time - before he was even the Democratic nominee.
I also voted for Obama as Illinois senator... I would not vote for him again.

I think the fact that he is of Moslem descent is why people are even thinking on those lines. What a beautiful Sheltie, Beanie. I am a proud owner of two of the darlings. :)

Equally, God forbid they change their minds or policies for good reason or changing conditions.

To some extent, they can't win. If they stick to their word, even if its stupid, they are critized. If they change course, they are critized. Its partially the public's fault as well.
ahhh so they just shouldn't HAVE a position so they can just do whatever they want and say "Well I didn't say I would do anything else"

That's silly.

If they cannot make good on their promises for a good reason then they need to just SAY that they couldn't do it for "X reason" and that this is how they plan to fix it and then when everyone screams and rants provide the evidence for why it's not possible or is possible. but they DON'T. They LIE... and they are always caught. if they are HONEST then there really isn't much the other party can do and we already know they can't please everyone... but at least they could be honest.

But honesty doesn't get votes. Playing stupid little political games and not taking a REAL stand on anything does.

Pope John Paul II, Dubya, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and Barak Obama have all been called the anti-Christ at one time or another too. People are so stupid.

The anti-Christ thing was in the book of Revelation, right? That book isn't about futuristic prophecy, it's about Nero and the Roman Empire. It was written in a popular style of the time (all mystic-like, oooo.)

Well, yes. But then, no one ever listens when they do try to explain . . . they just scream "flip-flop" or "liar." I'm not so much defending it as pointing out that our entire political culture discourages honesty, and the public puts up with it, indeed, actively participates in it.

Ooooh! Totally OT but THANK YOU!! I have heard that before on a show on the History Channel but I have trouble discussing it with other folks because I couldn't remember it in detail. I am totally researching that now. Thank you thank you thank you!

it does... and that's very sad. And then people (like me) wonder why politicians are so corrupt and why the whole system is such a joke.

it's easy for me to say since I have never nor would I ever run for office but honesty is the best policy. Leave the evidence there for people to see and when they refuse to look at it and just run their mouths STAND by your evidence and your truth and make it clear that the evidence is there for them to look at (if they could shut their big mouths for a moment to look at it)

Another reason the two party system totally sucks. more competition would mean less time to dig up dirt and hopefully more time focusing on your OWN campaign.

BUT.... I know all of that is too good to be true. Dirt sells, honesty doesn't.
