I know I haven't talked about his issues on here at all, and this probably comes as a shock. Middie had dementia or a brain tumor (he was covered in lumps, so the vet thinks brain tumor), and has bitten more people than I can count on one hand in the last year. The bites got serious (blood) and then he started going after me. That was the point where we were sure he wasn't recognizing people. He was mostly blind, and going deaf, so we think he was afraid of things, too. Rescue remedy stopped helping, so we turned to Xanax. I made the decision to put him to sleep last week after a culmination of dangerous behaviors and the realization that the only thing he enjoys is sleeping on the couch and eating.

He had a really great weekend, full of all the people food he could eat, and got a triple dose of Xanax to go to the vet this morning. He had to be muzzled, but when the sedation was kicking in and it was just us in the room, he got to eat a whole cup of ice cream. He actually went to sleep with his face in the cup. I held him the whole time because I promised him I'd be there for him all the way to the end. The end just came way too soon. Way too ****ing soon, Middie. I thought we had another 2 years.

Love you, Moo.

Oh no, Nolu, I am so, so sorry. :( *hugs* You did absolutely everything you could for him, including making a compassionate decision based on HIS well being. My immediate reaction was to call you, but I don't know if you're up for talking right now, so just know this: if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you.

F*ck.
I am so so so sorry.

I feel privileged to get to meet him and get Middie kisses. I'm sorry he and Payton didn't get along but Payton hates most boy dogs so it wasn't personal.

I'm heartbroken for you. I didn't realize where the thread was when I clicked on it. And I still can't believe it.

:(

I'm so sorry.
