These threads are always my favorite, and since we are making ALL the threads, lets make another one!

Pretty self explanatory...

Do you know what your next dog will be?
Where is it coming from?
When?
Plans/goals for it?
etc etc.

Do you know what your next dog will be? Most likely a Griff. But definitely a waterfowl dog of some sort.
Where is it coming from? If Griff, we have a breeder in mind we just need to see his dogs.
When? Oh boy. Probably 1-2 years.
Plans/goals for it? Working bird dog. Potentially some hunt trials if we are feeling like we have spare time and moneys. ;) Wouldn't be surprised at all if I trialed in a few other venues as well (read DOCK DIVING).
Answers in bold. (ps this is dangerous with a puppy already in the house). I'm actually quite excited for a change in type. I love herders, but it can make for an intense home even with fabulous off-switches. I don't typically like sporters, but I do like the Griffs so I look forward to having one around again. :)

Do you know what your next dog will be?
Depends on Journey's breeder's litter plans. But most likely another Aussie. However, there are two Toller breeders that I really want a puppy from, so i think when it comes time to start looking I'll just pay attention to what litter plans there are and choose the best litter fit for me maybe. But I am ninety nine percent certain that it'll be another Aussie, and then the next next dog will be a Toller.

Where is it coming from?
Guess I should have read all the questions before answering the first one haha. But anyway, if it's an Aussie it will be from Journey's breeder again. And if it's a Toller, it will be from a breeder either in Ontario or the states. There is a breeder in BC that I really like also. But, more than anything, I want a Toller from a particular breeder or two in Ontario when it's time (no kennel names cause I don't like talking about breeders publicly).

When?
Not until at least 2016. I don't want another dog right now to take away from any of my current dogs. I'm concerned about Ripley's lifespan after Keira's loss and I have goals to meet with Journey also before any newcomers.

Plans/goals for it?
Same as my current dogs. Active, take anywhere companions capable of training and participating in whatever activities I am into. No specific goals as of yet.

Toller most likely.

Where is it coming from?

A breeder I've picked out (I don't like talking about breeders online)

When?

Hopefully 2015 sometime.

Plans/goals for it?

Agility, maybe obedience, working tests and maybe hunting/hunt tests.

Answers up there. Lol.

Do you know what your next dog will be?
Another LHW. I think they would be the best fit for my current situation.
Where is it coming from?
A breeder (my very first!). Breeder is tentatively chosen, but I need to do a little more research on the chosen stud
When?
Hopefully 2015
Plans/goals for it?
Agility, possibly disc. Companion, primarily

ETA: This, of course, is assuming I don't flip out last minute and decide to keep Quid.

Buhund

Where is it coming from?

Awesome breeder in NJ

When?

I have no idea. As early as this winter, but honestly I'm thinking of waiting until like 2016. Lots to get done with Kimma and Jari before I want to add another puppy.

Plans/goals for it?

Agility all the days.

Ibizan Hound!

Where is it coming from?
A breeder in Georgia who is known for breeding versatile dogs with fantastic temperaments.

When?
Ummmm.... spring 2015. *facepalm* I was NOT intending on having two puppies this close in age, but Stark sort of just... happened.... and I didn't want to give up the chance to get a beezer from this particular litter. We'll make it work. Somehow. Yep. Uh huh. *takes giant gulp of wine*

Plans/goals for it?
Primarily conformation and lure coursing, but I'd also like to do obedience. Disc would be fun!

Do you know what your next dog will be? Unless something falls into my lap, another German Shepherd.
Where is it coming from? (S)he will be from a breeder, but I haven't really narrowed it down as I still have my hands full with Pip!
When? Hopefully a really long time from now when Pippa is old and doesn't want to adventure with me any more.
Plans/goals for it? Sports! Hiking! All of the things!

Do you know what your next dog will be?
Yes - either another German Shepherd puppy or an adult dog of a different breed.

Where is it coming from?
For German Shepherds, I have a few breeders that I've been keeping tabs on and in contact with. Funnily enough, there is one on the West Coast, one in the Midwest, and one on the East Coast. I like each for different reasons so it's really up in the air as far as who I go with. A lot will depend on what they have available and when, but I know who I've been leaning towards.

If I'm going to wait to get a second GSD as NextDog, I'm looking at late 2015 to 2016. If that doesn't happen my best options would be the next few months, or in 5+ years :yikes:

Plans/goals for it?
Spoiled but active pet dog and dabbling in IPO, hopefully.

Do you know what your next dog will be? another Plott
Where is it coming from? Narrowed it down to about 4 breeders... Rage's breeder has a female I LOVE right now, but she's very young, so in 4 years when I'm out of school it will be interesting to see what she's like. Her breeding is awesome - she is bred for hunting with a lot of Liz/Eerie's lineage as well - show - so she's nicely put together and her head is to die for, which is what Rage is really lacking (IMO). But it'll depend what the other breeders are offering - not a huge Plott presence out here, and I want something that can seriously compete in AKC conformation.
When? at least four years - when I'm out of vet school and our numbers are down a bit (I hate to even say that, but Dais is 14.5, Liz is 11, Keena is estimated to be 10...)
Plans/goals for it? ALL THE THINGS! Mostly conformation, hopefully we can move somewhere more coonhound/hunting friendly... I'd like to get it used to the water early for dock diving, definitely some lure coursing, and I'd REALLY like to get some obedience/manners down early. Currently, Rage loses her $h!t at any event we go to. She is just completely over threshold and bays the entire time. I plan to actually do foundations with my next puppy ;)

Do you know what your next dog will be? I am having a really hard time deciding between Aussie or Koolie. But at least I have it down to the two now.

Where is it coming from? I want a dog from working lines, which is easy with Koolies... Except they're all in Australia and I don't know how much I really want to import a dog. I think the whole not being able to find a North American bred one may be the deal breaker.

When? 2ish years. I need to be more settled in life, I want current dogs to have more training, and ideally I would be a home(stead) owner.

Plans/goals for it? Herding! :p I plan to have a small flock of sheep and a couple cows and I want to dog to help me move them. If I don't yet have my homestead going, we will still be taking herding lessons. Past that rally and agility for sure as those are "my sports" but I'd also like to start disc with next dog from the get-go. Also next dog would be my first puppy in forever. Walsh was the closest to puppy at ~6 months all other dogs were more like 1 year. I am kinda looking forward to starting training from an early age.
My answers are all above. :)

Do you know what your next dog will be? Not really. At least right now, I don't really want to do the puppy thing, so it'll be some sort of herding type dog like I've wanted for years, but I don't know what.

Where is it coming from? Shelter or Craigslist? Maybe rescue if their hoops aren't too big and if I liked the dog enough.

When? 2 things must happen: I have a house and Happy passes. God only knows when either will occur.

Plans/goals for it? Um... disc. And the usual be my best friend sort of thing.

Honestly I have NO idea about Nextdog and that's the first time in a long time that I don't. I am full up on dogs and Hank is so new with so many plans and he is so much work right now that it's just not on my radar. 3 dogs is DEFINITELY my maximum number of dogs unless I win the lottery or something.

So yeah... No idea what Nextdog will be and it won't be coming until I'm down to 2 dogs. I hope that's not for another 4-5 years. Depends on Summer and Mia health. Even if I get down to 2 dogs it will depend on where I am with Hank and the goals for him. I still wouldn't want to add a dog till he's middle aged.

I would say it could potentially be another rescued dog that appeals. I'm also interested in some breeder dogs. It will really depend on where I'm at in 5 years and I honestly have no idea where that will be!

Agility will be the goal of course.

Rat Terrier!

Hopefully in 7 weeks! If this doesn't work out, we wait until next litter--which would probably be better timing, with Jack just settling in and winter approaching. Leaving it up to fate & meat-to-bes ;)

We're pretty committed to a Rat Terrier from breeder as next dog. in 5-6 years I could see us adding a larger herding dog.

Do you know what your next dog will be?
I did. Now it has expanded. Either a Border Collie, a Koolie, or a Kelpie. Depends on what I find in terms of breeders and what suits what I am looking for best.
Where is it coming from?
Nextdog will be from a breeder.

When?
2015 at the earliest, no later than 2017.

Plans/goals for it?
All of the things!!!
No not really....Agility for sure, possibly disc and maybe some obedience.

Do you know what your next dog will be? I have it narrowed down to two, possibly three breeds.
Where is it coming from? The plan is from a breeder.
When? Ugh. Too many factors. I would love to have it when Em turns 7, but unlikely. Within the next 2 or 3 years.
Plans/goals for it? Service dog, sport dog.

Do you know what your next dog will be? Thinking something shepherd-y, maybe a border collie but I'm still very back and forth about it.
Where is it coming from? Breeder or Rescue, haven't decided honestly - my animals tend to just sort of find their way to me, and I imagine next dog will do the same
When? Once we've settled into a real house with a big yard
Plans/goals for it? Sporting/Agility

Do you know what your next dog will be? Something small, Very likely another LH Chihuahua, possibly a Papillon.

Where is it coming from? No idea! Possibly a rescue if the right dog is there but also possibly a reputable breeder when the time is right

When? Probably not until I'm in a house.

Plans/goals for it? Socialize at a young age to have a well adjusted small dog that I can take hiking with me (like I do with Tango) without worrying that it will bark at all the other dogs!

Mostly, I'll probably only be getting another companion dog. I don't really have time for sports but hiking is really fun to bring dogs with you. I've definitely fallen for the small dog ease with Tango. Boyfriend grew up with bichons so he's the first guy I've known that's ok with getting a small dog. He's leaning toward something with less shedding like a bichon or poodle but I'm not interested in a dog that needs regular groomer appointments to prevent it from looking like a cotton ball.

I haven't decided on NextDog yet. It probably won't happen for 3-5 years, so I have a lot of time. I'm waffling between a female Welshie, or switching to a herding breed (probably Aussie or English shepherd). I think I'll probably get a female Welshie, and then NextNextDog will be a male herder. I'm hoping my next Welshie will be a Watson puppy, or from one of his relatives who I have my eye on.

I definitely want to continue dabbling in obedience and agility. I'm not sure if I want to do conformation again, mostly because any Welshie bitch suitable for conformation will probably come with a breeding contract, and I don't want to deal with that. If I can own her outright and she was nice enough, I would consider playing around in the conformation ring again.

The reason my timeline is so far out is that I want to have a kid first. I couldn't handle Watson plus an adolescent dog plus a baby without losing my mind. Once we have a handle on the kid thing I'll be ready for another puppy. I think another Welshie is the more obvious choice to have around a small child, which also makes me lean Welshie for NextDog. The herder can wait til the kid(s) is older.
