I'm wishing so much strength to all the families who lost a child, and those who were first to respond -- I couldn't even imagine walking into that, without warning.

All I can think about is all those gifts that will sit unopened. Those were nothing but kids -- probably thinking about nothing but how many more sleeps until Santa comes.

This just popped up on my facebook, figured it was worth sharing.

"If anyone wants to mail sympathy cards or letters of support and solidarity to the school, the school address appears to be: Sandy Hook Elementary School, 12 Dickenson Drive, Sandy Hook, CT 06482. Please copy/paste/share, TR anywhere you prefer. Sending a card is something small but at least it's something we can do..."

REPOST PLEASE

This absolutely horrified me. All those babies. What kind of evil does it take to walk into a school and execute a 5 year old?? I just can't wrap my brain around it. Why?? Why destroy so many lives just because you are unhappy?? Small children are not supposed to have to hide from gunmen!

My prayers go out to the families and my heart absolutely breaks for them.

It reminded me too much of the Nickel Mines school shooting :( I can't even imagine what these families are going through and I feel awful all over again.

I'm still speechless. My heart is so broken over this today and I've been crying the majority of the day. I'm not a mother, but I couldn't imagine losing my child at all, especially in this way.

I came home and hugged Darien. I was at work all day, when I called home he told me and I could tell it was bothering him. (He he was home today by himself due to rotating strikes) When I hugged extra long he kinda looked at me. I said it was for all those parents who couldn't hug their kids tonight.

This is so devastating. I cannot imagine how the families are feeling right now. I don't have children either, but I can't imagine losing a child this way. My heart goes out to their parents and families. :'( The teacher's families and friends too that lost their lives today.

So horrible and so senseless. I think there is something seriously wrong with a person who can do ANY mass killings..but to target young children is even more unfathomable.

Also, a big boo to the media who reported the wrong siblings' name at first in regards to the shooter. Seriously.

I guess the shooter had stolen his brothers ID and had that on him when they found him, hence the mix up.

I feel like I am missing something.

So it was his brothers ID that he stole. His brother posted on FB that it wasn't him and he just got off the bus? Who is on FB when their mom just got murdered by their brother?!

I haven't heard anything about the father?

It's going to take some time to get all the facts straight I think. The father was not shot I guess. I thought the kid's mother was teaching at the school at the time, but supposedly she was not, was shot at home.

As far as I've heard, the father was not shot. Nothing has been mentioned about the father, I'm not sure where that started.

I doubt it was him on facebook, as he was in police custody.

Just horrific :(.

I believe the mother was shot at the school. At least, she was mentioned in the numbers DOA at the school. It was a roommate that was shot and killed outside of the school.

I believe he posted on facebook before it came out that his mother was deceased since she was discovered dead when they went to find her for questioning. He lost both his mother and brother and was blame for a time to a crime he did not commit. I feel very sympathetic towards him as well as all the other victims.

I have NO words for this tragedy.

Is something going to be done now? How many more must die? I have been crying all day.

Yesterday was hard, I am a preschool teacher and I was working so I didn't know anything about it until I got 25739191 texts around lunchtime. Last night was our Christmas program which myself and another teacher were in charge of. I went home and turned on the TV and had to turn it off and fix my face (I was crying) because I didn't want my kids to see it in my eyes. Then we had a debate because one person wanted us to have a moment of silince at the program, but none of us wanted to scare our kids. Ugh adults :(
The program was AMAZING and I couldn't stop hugging my kids, and it took everything I could to not cry everytime one of hem said "I love you Ms. Dana" and during Feliz Navidad a couple of them pointed directly to me (I want to wish You a Merry Christmas) tears welled up in my eyes so hard I held my breath and bit my cheeks and I am just never like that in public.

Such a senseless tragedy. My heart breaks for all involved, I can't even imagine... There are no words....

I don't have much more to say than what has already been said, but like everyone else, I still cannot fathom how someone could do such a thing. The mass shootings that have previously happened were tragic enough, yet taking the lives of children is just unfathomable.

My mother, sister and I were talking about it last night as well, simply discussing what could have possibly happened... as my mother has her Masters degree in counselling psychology, but it was clear that the whole shooting happened in a moment of unimaginable irrationality.

I just can't imagine what the families of those children are going through, including the families of the adults who were killed as well. Not to mention those who survived and who most likely have images in their minds that most can't even process. Even as just a swim instructor, I get so attached to the kids I work with, so to be a parent or a teacher to any of those children, I still can't imagine how devastated everyone involved must be.

I am still upset over this.
I cried so much yesterday. I first saw this when I was feeding horses last night and my boss' wife said something about it. So we went into their house and watched the news. When I got home last night, I couldn't even begin to wrap my head around what was happening.

Those poor babies. I can't believe someone would kill children. Its just... insane to kill a child.

RIP to all those babies.
