Newbie... not to dogs though...

Actually I was a judge at one point years ago. But my one dog retired, and the other one didn't like trials at the time, so I haven't done much lately. Now the ten year old golden has decided she likes to compete (she's in advanced AAC), my 4 yr old border (needs his number still) is getting better in those situations too, so I did a nadac trial and lived. My pup is in training and won't hit the ring till fall if anything. So yeah I do AAC, and CKC, and Nadac... just haven't had the dogs to do much with it until the last bit.
I see you do it, it's a wonder we haven't met at a trial.
I do hope to hit the nationals in a few years, when I have both the dogs, training time and body to do it. This year's regionals here are a week before I'm due with my second human pup.
