All this confuses me.

I was asked to re-submit - by joining the Forums. When I re-submitted, all I got when trying to validate the Activation Code was a page saying the web address (of the link in the activation email from Chazhound!) was not valid. Nor could I get the Activation Form to accept validation - it came back with the same page. Then I found that my account was activated anyway. To top all that, I now find that, in the 'new' Dog and Pet Directory, my listing still dates from September 2003, and is not a re-listing at all!

So I joined this Forum and re-listed for nothing?

Issues to address here?

Lee Johnson.

Hi Lee,
Don't know why your activation link didn't work. We have a problem with that every now and then. The system showed you as a registered but unconfirmed member which is why you can't subscribe or do other features. I went ahead and activated that part.

The directory database was intergrated with the forum member database so one log in would work with both. If you are a webmaster then you know how difficult this was to do. We had to do it as we were getting dozens of spam sites clogging the directory. Your old listing stats were kept and if it isn't relisted/modified and attached to your username, it would have been deleted soon.

Please keep in mind, these are free services and this is a personal dog site. While we try to maintain everything to a professional level, things will go wrong. We don't have a stable of 20 webmasters to code everything and only one admin :)

Please let us know should you experience any more problems.

Thank you

I am indeed a webmaster, and, yes, I do know the difficulties involved when introducing new features to a web site. What you have said is fair comment indeed.

However, part of webmastership is solving problems, which (for me anyway) means that I would either nail the fault being experienced 'every now and then', so that it never occurred (deference to the customer), or change it wholesale, and find something even more reliable.

This is not still meant as a criticism of yourself or your site - you have given me good answers. It is, I think, more to do with the way in which webmastering is approached.

When defending your setup as 'free' and 'a personal dog site', please accept that, unless there is actually substantial investment from professional sources, we are all operating under exactly the same criteria as yourself (as I am). And some 'personal' sites, such as yourself, do actually look extremely professional, so much so that some visitors (such as myself) might mistake it for a 'big operation'.

However, in the case of Westie-World, I would fully expect the visitor to send me criticism (or at least notification) of any errors or omissions - in fact I have an email address solely for that purpose. So what I am saying is "free and amateur" doesn't lessen accountability.

Anyway, thank you very much for personally activating my account, and I look forward to returning soon. I was sorry to hear that you, too, have incessant trouble with spammers!

Lee.

Hi Andre',
We do allow vendors/distributors to sumit, but they must offer something in content or information other than the mother site. We don't want 50 sites in one area all selling the same product and offering no unique content of information for the visitor.

So I guess it depends on the entire site presentation and quality of content.

I am sorry I missed this one. Thanks WestieWorld for pointing out the correct submit url for the directory. The email is coming and we are receiving them. Lynn, the admin, is trying to fix the reponse part but hasn't yet. We usually only answer problem emails as we get so many.

Let me know if you have anymore problems.

Thanks for the prompt response guys!

Chazhound has added my directory to the Chazhound directory... thank muchly.

I've highlighted your entry in Training Dog Breeds directory - Chazhound Listing - I didn't know which Group you would prefer to go in, so I made it the Working Breeds Group. If you prefer a different group, let me know.

I also added your listing to my regular Links page as promised -
Training Dog Breeds Link Partners

If anyone has a dog related site, feel free to add your link to our directory... and get another link by adding our link to your site.

Hi

I´m a new member of Chazhound Dog Forum. I´v tryed to submit my dog site to your dog directory, to the International Sites/Sweden and the Dog Sites/Swedish Vallhund section, but gets a failure notice every time. Why is that?

The name of my site is "The Lundstedt Vikings" and it´s about our Viking dogs of the breed Swedish Vallhund.

The address to the site is www.lundstedtsvikingar.net and you are all welcome to visit it.

Best regards
Isabel

Katie is the smartest dog I have ever seen!

Katie is the smartest dog I have ever seen! I adopted her from a pound just before she was to be euthanized. She is about 2 ½. She is spayed, has all her shots and is on heart worm prevention. She gets along well with my other dogs but is selfish with the feed bowl. She does very well with an electric fence. This dog would make a wonderful obedience trial dog if someone would take the time to work with her. She stays right beside you and watches your every move. She learns amazingly fast. She needs a lot of attention. She looks like a black and brown retriever mix. I can not keep Katie any longer because she has begun to kill my chickens every chance she gets. Adoption fee 25.00 negotiable. If she does not work out you may return her for a refund. 615-307-3123
