There's a new website http://www.fosterfurkids.com that connects rescues and shelters with local fosters and transporters by city or zip code. Rescue groups cover all necessities including food, bedding, collars, leashes, bowls. Some rescues will pay an additional weekly or monthly foster fee so that more people will open up their homes and foster. Transporters are paid per mile to transport pets from local shelters to foster homes.
Fosters and transporters can set up their own profile and preferences including breed, size, length of time they can foster, rates, etc. The more foster homes available, the more dogs can be saved from being euthanized at shelters. It's kind of like DogVacay or Uber for pet fostering.
