Great idea! I've thought about doing that myself for a while, but never did anything about it. LOL.

Those look scrumpdilliumptious!!! I'd love some of the dime sized for the Chi's and the nickle size for the big girl. (maybe even a few quarter sized) I bet they'd love the meaty, smelly ones. They love fish too and have no allergies to flour or anything. I'll send you some cash in an envelope. There's no reason you should pay for all that postage. I'll pm you.

Good luck. I bet you'll do a fine business. See? You're already taking orders!

Just thought I'd update on the flavors avialable now. I've ordered a couple speciality flours for the allergic dogs so I'm just waiting on those before I can perfect those recipes. Please note that any of the flavors can be customized with a different flour if needed. :)

Bacon Parmesan Treats: whole wheat flour, bacon and drippings (I can use turkey bacon for lower fat if needed), garlic powder (can be omitted upon request), grated parmesan cheese, milk, and eggs.
(These treats are the favorite in my house. Even my cats will try and snag them).

Ella's Salmon Noms: Salmon, eggs, sweet potato flour, fresh parsley.

Hannah Banana Pupcakes: fresh bananas, vanilla, honey, whole wheat flour, egg

Cinnamon Apple Snaps: whole wheat flour, unsweetened applesauce, vegetable oil, cinnamon, cornmeal, ground flax seed.

Veggie Bites: whole wheat flour, milk, vegetable oil, brown sugar, vegetable broth, egg, pureed vegetable mix.

Tuna Tasties: Tuna, eggs, whole wheat flour, garlic powder (can be omitted if requested), parmesan cheese.

Sunflower Flax Treats: whole wheat flour, cornmeal, unsalted sunflower seeds, corn oil, beef or chicken broth (whichever is requested), milk, eggs, ground flax seed

Junkfood Indulgence: oyster crackers, liver powder, margarine. (The amount of margarine is small - can be subsituted with olive oil if requested).

Meaty Noms: whole wheat flour, milk, eggs, vegetable oil, chicken/beef/turkey, ground flax seed

Now, keep in mind, these recipes can be customized to meet special needs. This is by no means a finalized list of what I will offer, I'm just perfecting some things. The flours available will be Potato Flour, Sweet Potato Flour, Rye Flour, and Whole Wheat Flour. If you have a special request, I will see if I can find it.

ALL the ingredients will be human grade, so it's nothing you or I couldn't eat if we were so inclined to try them out. (In fact, Jeff samples some of them, lol).

I'm trying to stick with as much organic material as possible, but some things are hard to find so some times I can't. All broths are low sodium. If things go as planned, I will be raising my own chickens this spring, so the eggs will come from buff orpingtons raised here at my own house. :D

I've got plans to bake all weekend, but for all those that have mentioned they'd like samples, I NEED ADDRESSES! So far I've only had one person send me there address. I'm going to be shipping out on Mondays only to make sure treats don't get lost and hung up somewhere over weekends.

Smkie, all flavors are going to be available in three different training treat sizes plus other shapes. :)

Yes Ma'am, Renee. :p I'll make sure I don't overdo it. None of the recipes are horribly difficult to make though. And the kneading the dough is the most difficult part. I've just been doing a fourth of each recipe, so it's not been too bad, and I rest while they're baking. I don't want to go all out for a recipe that turns out disgusting. I won't be doing full recipes until I'm ready to take real orders. (Of course, if people wanted to buy without sampling, I'm actually ready for that too...I just need to decide on pricing.)

Can the Tuna ones be for cats as well?

Bear is all for the Bacon ones, and Jet is drooling over the Apple ones. :D
Looks like you might have 3 new customers (if the Tuna ones are for kittys like Peanut :D ).

I can try to make some itty bitty kitty treats. If I roll out the dough thin enough it should work, they may not be pretty though, lol. I don't think I have anything small enough to make a cute design or shape with.

It doesn't have to be tiny. Peanut eats the dog food and its about twice the size of his cat food. The dime and nickel size of the treats your making for Pdub should be just fine. Just make sure they are crunchy cause Peanut won't touch soft food or treats... weird cat. LOL :D

Well I can put in my 2 cents. I think it is a wonderful idea. I have been making my own treats for the past year or more. I also make them for gifts and for friends. I have entertained the idea of starting a business and even thought of a name. I also researched the business side... it seems relatively easy to start. A commercial feed license, a business license, liability ins.. My choice was to go with a "LLC" - Limited Liability Company.
I have been having some trouble trying to get info for labels, for the guaranteed analysis... and figuring out what is required in that aspect for a dog treat.
I wish you the best, as I have a ton of fun putting together new recipes and new shapes... several months ago I actually started to use a bone cookie cutter. Lol
I also took several pictures of my "pumpkin peanut butter" treats... they don't have a real name yet. I used whole wheat flour, egg, peanut butter, pumpkin, beef broth, cinnamon, and a sprinkle of garlic.
Here are the pictures I took for you to see:

I also have been trying to perfect a dehydrated snack with sweet potato french fries wrapped in a thin chicken fillet. My dogs love them.... but they have to be refrigerated.

Good Luck to you!
Julie.

Gosh, I feel like such a jerk. I totally didn't see this reply. I'm sorry! :(

Thank you so much for the info - your stuff looks fantastic. I don't know if I have what it takes to turn my idea into something big, but I sure am having fun dinking around with it.

I've been messing around with the sweet potato snack things too. I really need a nice dehydrator. I have a birthday coming up, I'll put that on my list, for sure!
