Sorry--I can go to Front Royal at the furthest. That's 3 1/2 hours and 180 miles to make the loop. Is this being advertised elsewhere? I don't think we can make the whole chain on Chaz.

Don't they have organizations that will help ship a pup on a plane? It sounds like that'd be more efficient (cost and time wise!)
Okay I just google mapped. If I did it correctly:

Front Royal is 3.5 hours from our house.

If we needed to get her to Renee in Bristol that's another 5 hours

and then back to our house is 6 hours.

Is there anyone else along the way?

I am less than an hour from Front Royal. I could shuttle the dog between points, but I could NOT keep her at my house for any length of time. Daisy would have cow, and my parents would probably kick me out or something.

ETA: Is the dog traveling in a crate? I can't fit a big crate in my mercedes. I'm not sure that I could get away with using my parents' cruiser either. Hmm, maybe I could get Stef's mom to loan me her Expedition!

She can most definitely spend the night here if needed, as long as she is dog friendly. Cristy, neither of my parents would let you drive the Expeditions. Sorry. LOL! I can't even imagine their faces if I were to ask. I do have a harness that should fit a Fila, though. It's not a car harness, just a regular one, but if you attach a four foot lead to the headrest and loop it a few times it works almost as well as a real car harness. I'd need it back, of course, but I'm fine with it being used on her for the duration of her road trip.

So if I can get the dog to Sweet/Nolu, they can get her a little further...still will probably need someone to get her to Bunny and/or Renee. This should be early morning, I'd guess. I was planning on doing this first thing Friday or Saturday morning, so that the whole weekend is open for driving (so no over nighting in virginia should be necessary)

Depending on how far Sweets is I could potentially get her from there and start on the next leg.

I would also need someone to meet me somewhere around the next leg to Renee since Bristol is a bit of a ways from us.

Can we clarify how large this dog is? I have an eclipse...hubby has a civic. Both are kind of small...I didn't even think about the fact that the dog would have to remain crated the whole trip.

Can you tell I'm new at this?

As long as you're okay with me leaving her in the back seat of the car uncrated, that's fine. I can flatten the crate and put it in the trunk.

I've only done one transport where the dog was crated because she was a VERY upset and pissed off beagle. All others the dogs have just rode loose in the back of my car, but I tend to only pick up small related groups anyway.

Ok, so it sounds like we have drivers from Maryland to VA with a confirmed overnight in VA? Or do we still need a leg up there? I want to post this on my rescue list but they like things already broken up into legs and it'll go easier if I know what's already filled and what is still needed.

Waiting for Bunny to PM me back about our meeting point. The dog probably will have to stay at Nolu's for one night. I can't see picking up a dog an hour away in Alexandria, and turning right around and driving another hour or so away. :p

I'll bring the dog to you, Sweet--where are you located? Heck, I was willing to drive to Front Royal if necessary, so anywhere in between Front Royal and Alexandria is great.

I emailed the rescue person and asked if Friday would be ok, and what time he would be available for Dahlia to be picked up? Hopefully I will hear back today.
