Someone got his pony cut!

Hiccup by Lindsey, on Flickr

And I kinda love it.

It was fun, I got to hang out with his breeder and her friend for a few hours and meet a bunch of the dogs.

Though, he spent all yesterday freaking out when his tail touched his back because "OH MY GOD WHAT'S TOUCHING ME?!"

I'm pretty sure most of Hiccup's life is spent going "WEEEE!"

I love him! And he's still got plenty of head/neck floof to touch.

Also some quick pictures of the other cresteds! I'm really loving this breed. Every dog I meet is so fantastic. Locke, you need one!

I also will hopefully be getting little baby crested pictures in the upcoming months. Which will be amazing.

What's the brown (chocolate?) PP like? He looks bats*** crazy in the best possible way.

Sorry to go off topic, but do you know what the coat/skincare maintenance is like on both types? I always assumed hairless was something like a spynx cat, lots of baths, lotion, sunscreen, etc. How often will you need to clip Hiccup to keep him looking reasonable in a pony cut?

She's super sweet! Very outgoing and wiggly. She just got in the country this week and was pretty much adorable. Her and Hiccup are about the same age and had a blast running and chasing each other yesterday like crazy.

I'm not anything close to an expert so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I believe the hairless are bathed more often and you have to keep up with skin care since they will get pimples and blackheads. Many use sunscreen but also seem to build up tans.

You also end up shaving most of the hairless because they get some body hair (varies dog to dog). Some hairless have so much hair you would think they were a puff. Some have very, very little body hair.

Puffs a lot depends on coat quality. Some will mat easier than others because of coat type. So mainly brushing and keeping it clean.

I'm not sure how often I'll need to clip Hiccup, but I'll keep you updated on how fast it grows!

I still like the puffball look, but he's pretty adorable regardless.

Is the fluff vs straight hair an age thing, a coat type thing, or just a variation? A couple look like they'd need a straight iron to get the same look as some of the others.

Oh yes, definitely getting one in a few years. No doubt about it! I love the male in the second picture. He looks perfectly proportioned. Love them all.

Hiccup is stunning.

Gosh he makes me kinda want one immediately. I've always liked the breed and planned to have one some day, but REALLY want one like right now.

I think it's a little of everything, coat type, age, how much it's grown out and I do think some/many use a flat iron for shows.

I love him too! Love his look and his personality was stellar.

Do it. I'm so happy about him!

The biggest issue I'm having right now is that he's pretty standoffish with strangers. But, that's because I'm used to the koolies.

Mr. Only One Dog Ever :rofl1:

Also yes.

I just died of cute. I'm trying not to cut my fluffy puppy, and you are NOT helping.
I angsted about it waaaay too much before I did it but I'm super happy about it now. He's keeping cooler, I didn't need to deal with mats from burs and he looks like an 80s hairband. So, fantastic.
