Ohhhh man!!!
We are re-carpeting the boys' room. Let me just say that after 6 hours we have finally got to the subfloor. I sprayed Kilz on the walls where needed and now I am getting ready to paint. Then tomorrow we lay the carpet and put EVERYTHING back.
My eyes are burning from the paint spray and my head hurts.
At least the boys' room will be finished. Next comes the girls, Living room, and hallway. We originally were going to put down laminate in the living room and dining room but came across this carpet for free. Cant beat free.
Next year we will lay laminate unless we come across a hard to miss deal.

MY EYES >>>MY EYES!!!!!
Help my eyes!!!!! They hurt:(

Wow! More ambition than I've got! Have you painted Kilz on the floor too? Mom and Dad did that when they had their old house recarpeted since they had cats and dogs (and the inevitable accident). It kept 'stuff' from soaking into the flooring.

I checked at work and for the Mannington lamminate flooring its $4 a square foot installed. If you were locale I could hook you up with some discontinued or stuff we no longer push.

You cant beat free if you install it yourself.

Ill be ripping out carpet at some point and replacing it with miss match Mannington laminate.

my daughter and I just recarpeted my entire house last month and I can sympathise. Lots of work but am so glad I did it and saved a load of money too. Wish I got the carpet and padding free that would have been better deal yet but oh well. You do get a great sense of achievment don't you? Daughter and I do most of the handy work here lol. Hubby is great at it but never has any free time.

Were using a rubberized paint in the living room to repel any accidents.
Were also not using any pad...I know it will ruin the carpet and not be soft but were more into keeping things clean and the carpet is easily replaced. Much easier to suck up wet stuff out of the carpet than it is in the pad. No pad=easier more efficient clean up.
Jim knows a guy who can get us laminate fairly cheap. Just a matter of money at this point. Since it is almost school time and we do have 7 kids its much more frugal to use up the free carpet then to spend money on laminate.
Were almost done!
Although one of the boys got food coloring all over the walls. Lil small sprinkles that even kilz wont contain. We did 2 coats of kilz on those areas and it still bleeds through. Most of it is gone but there are still lil blue dots here and there
Putting in carpet today and putting everything back inside. Fun Fun Fun!:)

All I can say is more power to ya! Ripping out and laying carpet is a crappy job. I've done it too many times myself. Our den is in need but the room is 26x20, not the cheapest thing to have to do. Since it's an addition, I know its just plywood subfloor so it'll be expensive to replace no matter what we decide to use.

I've done many projects , but have never tackled carpeting !! I think I would/could do the the sticky squares ( especially in a kids room with spare " replacements" ) I've done both ceramic and tiled squares in bathroom and kitchen areas . Anxious to hear how the weekend panned out !! Mine was helping daughter Jan and hubby and Nash move into their new " old " home. Sat Nash Friday plus an over night ( had EliN's Hunter here too , so it was a 3 ring circus.! I think I slept 3 hrs )... and 3 loads in 4 Runner Sat. and today. Loaded everything left today and cleaned out stuff , then vacuumed . I'm leaving the garage up to Jeff. There's still stuff in the refrig. and freezer .... plus some plants. ( That I can do ) This is her 4th move I've been involved with and I know will be my last. It's 30 miles to their new place . Nash has been great with the move !! Just his ornery self !! When things settle , I'm anxious to take Ollie up . Alot of woods to explore and a quiet cul-de-sac area. Wonder how he'll like the the fish pond !!!!
