Give me strength! I just got notified that my first foster boy has a potential adopter. I have to still call the potential adopter. Give me strength to make the right decision for my little lovebug.

Thanks Rebecca. I just got off the phone with the potential adopter. She adopted another dog yesterday. I have very mixed feelings right now as he's snuggled behind my back. He's so bonded to me.

OMG Annie!!!!! I don't even want to know.... I almost failed foster101. I swear sometimes it's heartbreaking. But hopefully you'll be able to make a friend out of the adopter and then you'll still be able to get reports.

I know I think about "my" girl Gaia every single day.

Nah, I'm not going to fail fostering with his guy. As much as I love him, he needs more than I can give him. PLUS, I wouldn't be able keep fostering if I keep him. I'm more than ready to keep him & work with him until the perfect home comes along.

Ed, funny you should say that about making friends. Because of him I have made friends with some pretty super people in our socialization trips. I know my heart is going to break when he DOES find that perfect home but it will also be glad because I know that I've helped him find that perfect home.
Why did I think that Gaia was yours & not a foster? hmmmmmm.
Anywho, thanks for the kind words Rebecca & Ed.

Because I went into the whole deal treating her as mine, rather than with the idea that she was a foster. I made up my mind I was going to fail foster 101. I really really wanted to. But when the perfect home was found...(40 acres fenced, horses, 3 other pharaohs, frisbee and playtime all morning long and retirees that never leave home for more than 3 hours at a time) I knew that she would be getting everything that I couldn't give her.

I have kinda decided that short of some sort of emergency situation, I won't foster a dog. One, because I don't have the time to train another dog . . . two, because I'd worry constantly about where they'd end up . . . and three . . . well, hard to give em up you know?

I did tell the rescue to give me a call if they have small animals or reptiles that need a foster home though :D Might be hard to give them up . .. but not as hard.

wow, Ed! I'D want to live there with her new folks! That sounds like heaven to me. Do you have a chance to get any info on her? I can just picture her romping with her sibs.

THAT'S my biggest worry especially since Trucker is my first foster & I get to meet the potential adopters. Will I be able to tell if all of his needs will be met sufficiently? Will they be patient with him? Ahhhhhhh, I'm gonna make myself nuts(er) if I keep on. ~L~ You get my drift though, I hope. :)

I'm in contact with her new mom 2 or 3 times a month. The best part is that Gaia (now Ginger) is still sleeping under the covers and using her human as a pillow. That alone tells me that she's in the right place.

Wow he is really cute! I'd have a hard time giving him up too. Make the decision based on whether this home can offer him more than you're offering him right now.

How PERFECT!!!! If you can, please tell her new folks to give her some skritches from me.

milos-mommy, great advice! Thank you. It's going to be rough to find a better home for him than here but there's one out there, somewhere.
BTW, I've been meaning to tell you how aDORable Milo is.

I'm wishing you the best of luck. I know I could personally never foster - I'd be to sad to let them go - and I'd end up with 100 dogs in my house haha. You'll make the best decision I'm sure =)

I'll do that, but there will probably be an awkward silence while they look at each other and wonder "who is this person that's never met "ginger" asking us to give her scritches?" But I'm sure they'll do it! LOL!

Yeah, Ed, tell them I'm strange & they'd believe it since I'm someone you know from the internet. :D

What a day it's been. First thing this am I get notified that there's someone who is interested in adopting Trucker. All I needed to do was call her & set up a meet. I called her & she's found another pap. I go crashing down after I got all emotionally ready to call her & let my boy go. Now about an hour ago I get another email. There's someone in my area who is interested in Trucker & needs a home visit. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! It would be awesome if this one works out. Keep fingers crossed for us.

Good luck! We're sending Trucker good adoption vibes! If only I could take a dog now and I lived closer to you. *sigh* He's such a pretty boy. I'm sure the right home is out there looking for him.

Good luck! I know how hard it can be to rehome them. You want to make sure that you do right by them and worry about them ever ending up needing to be fostered again. You want them to find the perfect foever home. And I am sure you will do right by your little forster Pap. You obviously care deeply for him, you will find his forever home for him.
