My boxer is peeing uncontrollably

Hey,

My boxer is about 6 1/2 years old. He's recently been peeing uncontrollably. He has been potty trained since he was 6 months old. So now its like he cant hold it. He has never peed inside, so something is wrong. I cant afford to take him to the vet so i was wondering if there is any kind of vitamin or anything i can buy off the counter that will help him.

If the situation gets worse I will have no choice but to take him to the vet, but Im just wondering if there is anything I can do, help please ?

My mom's dog just recently had a kidney infection and after her course of antibiotics she was still having problems with urination. the vet said that if they antibiotics didn't work then she would need surgery but my mom thought she should try some other options before resorting to surgery

My mom tried a little apple cider vinegar, yogurt and cranberry juice and amazingly her dog has made a full recovery no surgery required.

Oh boy, it could be the cause of sooo many illnesses, some minor some major. Sometimes we just need to find a way to take our pets to the vet, if it means loaning, credit, whatever. This is one of those times, I'm afraid.

Could be any number of things, some pretty easy to treat and minor, some quite serious.

This needs to be seen by a vet ASAP. The longer it goes without the proper treatment, the worse it can get.

Yes, but your mom had a diagnosis before doing a home treatment. If she had tried the same thing when it was not a kidney infection, the results might not have been so good.

but I don't think yogurt or cranberry juice in the meantime woudl hurt the dog?!

I looked up a vet in my area, and I got a coupon online for a free exam. Im going to set up an appointment this saturday. And the lady did inform me I could make payments so that will really help

When you say uncontrollably, do you mean every few minutes? Did you change the amount of water you give him? Also, don't give water before your boxer goes to sleep. You should not give water after 7 or 8 PM if you do not want him too wake you at night. Boxers get excited when they play or run for a while, this will make them consume more water than they need to cool themselves, and this may result in excessive peeing. How often do you take him outside to pee? They can also pee if they feel scared or threatened sometimes. I am mentioning all the non-serious reasons as I hope it is not some kind of an infection.

While that may be true, when a dog has not had any peeing accidents for six years, it is most likely a medical problem. On the scale of possible medical problems, an infection would be lower on the list of seriousness.

Please please please take him in! My boyfriends parents dalmatian was experiencing something similar. They took him to the vet yesterday and he has only 25% kidney function left. They put him on dialysis and antibiotics last night. Today she called me to tell me they were going in to say goodbye. He was only 3 and hadn't gotten in to anything so they figure it was something genetic.

Don't me to be such a downer but this happened a few hours ago and we're all so upset, I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this.
