I could not deny Mikey this home when it came available. He went to live with a 30+ year Rottweiler person who had recently lost their only old dog. This person keeps only one dog at a time, and has titled NUMEROUS SchH3s, TDXs, CDXs, FHs etc, both in the US and Canada, including multiple dogs sent to her and titled for other people.
When she lost her old dog, I offered her a puppy "for some company for a while" and she took me up on it. It looks like "for a while" will be until the end of this pup's life. I have been delighted with the photos and updates she has been sending me. The pup is heeling beautifully, retrieving well, and will be introduced to turns on the track this coming week. They are really enjoying each other. It was really a good time for these 2 boys to go their separate ways. The good thing is she is just several hours away, and will make him available to me to show anywhere, all I need do is notify her.
Milton, while he is looking very nice, with excellent breed type, topline, movement, and attitude, is not going to be a dog of heavy bone or substance. I expect he will have enough to finish. Mike, on the other hand, is dripping with bone and substance, and should have no trouble finishing handily in spite of a dip behind the withers and an eye that could be darker.
Placing Mikey was a circumstance of deciding to do what was best for the puppy instead of what I might have selfishly wanted to do (being keep them both).
Several puppies will be hitting the ring in February, so stay tuned for updates.
