I don't think it's sunk in yet that I actually have the means to get myself and my pets from here to Fort Worth, TX now, thanks to the help of the corgi community and my friends/family.

My boyfriend of 2 years is staying here, because he'd rather be close to his family and keep this dead-end job of his than to be close to me. We were talking about getting married, but I don't know how we're ever going to do that if he can't break this over-attachment he has with his family long enough for us to live in a house more than 50 feet from them. We're not breaking up... just kinda... separating I guess.

So I'm leaving to get some space, get into a better living situation for myself and my pets, and to find a job (something that doesn't really exist here in the middle of nowhere). Maybe he'll rethink some things while I'm away... and if he doesn't, I guess he wants to be in this place more than to have a life with me. I left everything behind in Colorado to pursue a life with him, but he's not willing to the same it seems. And I can't just sit around here and wait for him to come around. My life is on hold. He's begging me to stay here and I hate it here. I have no friends and everyone is two-faced. Nobody even has the same way of thinking that I do, except for Blake (kinda. We still differ greatly on the pet thing).

I need to get Shippo back into agility classes. I need to go to my corgi meetups and dog events. I need to help these kittens. I need to get back on my feet and build up my collar business. It's time I started doing all that again.

It's going to be hard to leave Blake behind, but he's the only thing I'm going to miss, and if it weren't for him, I would not be here in the first place...

Sad that it is such a hard move...but kudos for having the guts to just pick up and do it :)

Good Luck to you and the critters!

I've visited Ft. Worth and it's a pretty cool place. You'll have fun there if you let yourself. :)

Oh I've been there to visit family a few times, so I already look forward to being there. =) The ONLY hard thing about it is leaving Blake behind. But there's not a lot I can do about that at this point, while still maintaining my sanity...

Sometimes you need to get away and have a new start with a fresh look and do what's best or you. If it's meant to be, you & Blake will find a way to make it work. It takes two people that want to be together & make sacrifices, but you both need to be happy. (((hugs))) I was in similar situation earlier this year, it sucks.

Good luck & I hope the move goes well!!

(((((HUGS))))) and good for you for doing what you need. Sometimes even when you love somebody, it's just not meant to be. Love isn't always "enough" despite what romantic comedies try to tell us. And maybe the time apart will open his eyes to what he really wants out of life (you!) Only time will tell, but I think you're making a good decision. Good luck.

I don't post often, but I read here a lot. I just wanted to say that I hope you enjoy Fort Worth. I live in Fort Worth and it is a pretty great place to live. It will probably be hotter than you are use to considering where you are moving from. I hope your move goes smoothly and you like Fort Worth.

I think you're making a good choice. You can't give up who you are for anyone. If you stopped doing the things you like on account of bending entirely to his life style, then you're losing yourself. I hope everything will work out for you and he'll see that healthy relationships require compromise and letting the other person pursue their dreams too. Good luck with the move. I think it will be a nice place to live...and an adventure.

I was born and raised in Fort Worth and still live here. I moved away to Austin for a year for college and ended up back here to finish school. It's a great place with a lot of diversity. I hope your travel goes well and you get settled easily!

Welcome to Texas!
