Most Popular Family Dog?

there was an awful woman down the street from me that had 7 children. The parents were later arrested for abuse..but this story is about the boxer. That dog was the parent, the playmate, the road patrol..all wrapped up on one. He watched over those children like a collie does his flock. I saw him swerve and herd them away from the street and lick tears from faces. Later the horrible woman came to me and asked if i wanted to buy her boxer for 200. If i had any money i could have laid my hands on i would have done it and rehomed. The state had taken her children and she thought she would sell the dog to get them back (when heck freezes over i was thinking will she ever see them again) anyway, if that dog is any example of a boxer the breed would have to be in the top five of my list.

Awww, that is so sad but so sweet. Molly definitely licks away my tears and stays by my side when I am sad/sick. Don't know if she would "herd" anyone away from the road though. Sounds like something my sister's boxer would do, though, she is the most disobedient dog I know but man, she is one of the sweetest and would do anything to protect her family.

I <3 boxers, and I am so glad they're becoming more mainstream. I'd never seen anyone else owning boxers in my neighbourhood, and in the last 3 years we've met 5-6 couples with them!

Hehe, boxers are actually on there!

I'm actually very glad they aren't incredibly common. Less breeders and such hopefully means less irresponsible breeders "ruining" the breed. Plus it's kinda cool being one of the only people in the neighborhood with one! I only know of one other person in my neighborhood who has a boxer.

If this is about the most popular family dog (and not the best Breed for the job), then in this Area it would have to be Staffies, they are everywhere

I think it'd be between Pit Bulls and Goldens. Properly bred and raised, both breeds are very loving, patient and tolerant of the "abuse" kids dish out. Both are quite popular and most families I know with kids and dogs have Goldens/Golden mixes or Pit Bulls/Pit mixes.

I agree with everyone else with the labs and goldens. I can see how some people talk " neighbourhood" popular tho, our neighbourhood seems to have been hit by the sheltie-virus. Or maybe that's just coz since I got one I notice them everywhere lol but I know 7 of them within like 100 m's from me lol. I used to live in Holland over there same thing the goldens and labs were really popular

IMO Boxers are the number one family dog. They are great with children.
