This horror story is the plaintiff's side, but I cannot think of any excuse for arresting her in this case and if the allegations about how she was treated are true, it is appalling. Even if she were a bit of a political gadfly, that is within our rights as long as we don't break laws and she did not according to the outcome of that matter.

Now thanks to not responding to a $70 million lawsuit, this town may have to pay a default judgment. (You should see the town council meeting video. )

Who cares about the money? The other day I had gone to the bank and withdrew a large sum of money, but I had it on me while i had to do a few things before going home.

I'm appalled at this story and my mind is having a hard time comprehending it. Not only should she give them he'll like no other, seems like a few deputy sheriffs need to have their balls cut off due to too much testosterone causing extremely illogical actions.

I could see this happening if she was taking pictures at say, Area 51. But at some airport of a thing visible to everyone passing by? I'll have to tell my mom not to take pictures like this anymore, she could get arrested as a terrorist!

We live in a gestopo, just like Nazi Germany now. It may not be consistent or regular everywhere, but these types of stories are popping up more and more frequently. This is no longer the home of the free and the brave.

I went onto another page and read some comments...thought this was a good one, among others. This guy, I think hits the nail on the head that so many cops today are malignant narcissists. That is a description of a very scary mental illness, one that I'm very familiar with. Many with this personality disorder go into professions like law inforcement because it is apt to bring to them the narcissistic supply they need. These cops are the terrorist thugs, criminals, nothing better... and should be put in jail for the rest of their lives for breaking the law to this extreme extent and terrorizing Americans.

KeepyourpowerFebruary 19, 2011 - 8:18 pmAs a former police officer and someone who works to save this country from corruption… as a citizen….

These law enforcement officers should be brought to trial and after conviction…should be placed “in the general population” so that they can have at least some of the humiliation and pain that Ms Genovese went through. Every one of them..from local, airport, and up to the FBI.

I hate liars! And I hate corrupt police officers even more!

Frivolous….no way!

The officers were probably using the Patriot Act.
For those that do not know….if you are arrested and they use the Patriot Ac t..saying you are a terrorist…you cannot have an attorney. You will be treated just like Ms Genovese was and if let go…you are not allowed to tell ANYONE what happened to you, especially during detainment…or you will serve 5 years in jail and a fine.

And our Congressmen…even the new Republican ones voted to extend the Patriot Act until 9 months from now.

This is a very dangerous law and needs to be repealed!! It is very un-Constitutional!

You can see how it is misused by law enforcement! They misuse it often!

And President Obama stated he could detain anyone he wanted for as long as he wanted without an attorney or a trial.
He was using the Patriot Act when he said that.

Do you happen to know just how many malignant narcissists there are in law enforcement ? ..Do you understand people of authority from a small town up to the President could use the Patriot Act to detain masses of people?

Or are most of you still asleep?

You MUST contact your Congressmen/women and Senators and DEMAND that this law be repealed NOW!

Look up the definition of terrorist - those officers fit the definition perfectly.

She must have really pissed them off somehow, but when it comes down to it, she did nothing illegal. The "law enforcement" officers did.

OFF TOPIC COMMENT ON DOBER'S QUOTE

In our facilities security plan , it specifies we are to hold any intruder ( not even release them to POLICE custody ) until we contact the Captian of the Port . The captian of the port has someone in Homeland security he has to report it to , and then it is decided what to do with the intruder.

I hate The Department of homeland Security with a passion , I had to get a stupid TWIC card (paid 135.00 of my own money) THAT DOES NOT WORK.

/ rant

i hope to god she gets every penny.

Duh. The PATRIOT Act (acronym for Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism) is the brainchild of the Republican Neocons. Of COURSE they voted to renew it. And the Democrats are going right along with it now that they've seen how much power and control it puts into the hands of government and effectively finishes gutting the Constitution and suspends pretty much any civil right at the whim of the Brownshirts, err, law enforcement. All they have to do is wave their magic glocks and say "terrorist" and any semblance of due process just disappears into thin rhetoric.

I'm taking the last two sentences of that quote to heart and writing that letter. (if it will do any good) It is an incredibly dangerous thing, this patriot act. And of course they'll never dismantle it on their own, even if terrorism ceased to exist. And that's because THEY'RE the real terrorists! It's again letting the fox guard the chicken house.
