Me too - we'll need to get a count of who is coming by the end of this month I think - that way we have phone numbers/emails for everyone, and know what to expect when it comes to hotel rooms and reservations.

Quick question here, Does anyone mind if I bring my sister along? She looks at this forum from time to time and found out that I could be going.

Indeed - the more the merrier! Does your sister have a dog? :D

Nope, but since she would be comming along I may bring a dog from the shelter for her to look after. I have to ask the owner first and I will not bring one that I don't trust or that I don't know how it will act.

Sounds great Kees, we'd love to have ya! If she needs to talk to an "adult" before making a final decision, let me know and I'll give you my contact info via PM.

I might be able to show when I know when/where/and cost of the room ...... Zoom , maybe we could bunk up ??? We and our dogs know each other . A double bedded room split 4 ways would be great for me !!! Also , Mom's might like to know that there's a Grammy looking on !!!!

I agree, your presence would be great for the parents of the not-quite-adult Chazzers!

So far the date is looking like June 28-29, in Ames IA - about 40 minutes north of Des Moines. It'll be a two-day affair, the first day will probably be spent in Ames, where we'll visit the small-yet-semi-private dog park and have dinner at Hickory Park*. Also, a nice sunset hike at one of the nature parks in the area, so the dogs that need to be leashed or don't play well with others can have some fun. Sunday we'll head down to Des Moines for some doggie-supply shopping and a romp at the Raccoon River Dog Park.

I'll be checking on hotels sometime in the future, once I know how many out-of-towners will be attending.

Here's the website for Hickory Park - it's an Iowan legend, one of the most famous places to eat in the state, and VERY affordable! http://www.hickorypark-bbq.com/history.html

Thanks !!! I'll check as to availability ( family needs comes first ! ) .... distance etc . I'm no prude ( as I'm sure you all know ! ) but the thought that a 75 year old Grammy would be there might help the youngster's parents . Right now I have to be careful of my finances ...... but I'd love to join !!!!

Be still my heart and look at your pocket book !!!! I've only traveled with Ollie once and he was great ! Loved the motel !!! I won't need my crate if anyone your want it ( if I come !) If we go out to eat , Ollie's fine in the 4Runner . His kennel on wheels ! I just checked ... it would be about an 8 hr drive for me ....... what time would be the get together ??? Looks like I'd have to come in a day early .... stop along the way . I can do the 8 hr but wouldn't want to miss anything !

This is sounding so exciting! Oh, and yes Sizzle, that would probably help. I am only 14, so planning something like this with an online community of people I've never met isn't the greatest for parents to hear.

I'm also hoping Max will be ok, we would need to borrow someone's crate if they aren't using it while we're at the hotel.
