I just got these girls today. They are both super sweet and easy to handle. They are both 8 week old Rex's (I *think* Dumbo rexs but I would have to look at their paperwork).

They have no names as of right now. I want to get to know them a bit better.

They are living in a renovated bird cage right now. But I have a cage im building right now for when they are older. I was going to put them in a rabbit cage but the bar spacing was too big. I have shelves im going to add tonight. And im picking up fleece for a hammock as well.

The pics airn't the best they are hard to get pics of.

This little lady is VERY friendly. She comes to me first. And is a pro at shoulder perching. I have a feeling she will be going everywhere with me.

Her shy sister. She is used to being handled but I think she is just anxious in the new enviroment.

Lol they feel so big compared to my mice.

"NOOOOOOOOZ I NO GONNA GO IN MICOWAVE"

Her sister is hard to photograph

Play wrestling

Thanks! Im so in love with them already. They are so cute and so much fun.

Im pretty stumped on their names right now. I was joking last night that I should name one Crimson and the other Clover after the song. But im not so sure about that now.

I also thought of naming the little lighter one "Dren" just because. I know that thing is super messed up in Splice. But I liked her through most of the movie lol.

Lol we shall see.

Cute!! We were on a waiting list for female babies but Matt has decreed that we have enough animals...lol. He is such a killjoy (joking...kinda). And we'd have to buy another cage because only Sprocket is neutered and I am not paying another hundred dollars for Cogswell to get neutered too when he's perfectly friendly anyway. So to summarize (lol) I'm very jealous of your new babies!

Aw, rexxy babies!:D

If that's their temp cage (and not something they're in while you're cleaning, etc) you might want to see about picking up a small, cheap cage on Craigslist. It's a pretty small space, even for tiny babies. I know they'll be in a large cage when they're older, but the little ones need so much running room when they're small. I know my girls did laps around their Critter Nation when they were dinky little things.

I have been searching craigslist trust me lol. But my area doesent seem to have alot of small animal owners selling proper cages. But im definately on the hunt. They are out most of the day right now anyways. I have a play pen set up for them so they get to spend majority of their day in that. Or on my shoulder/in my lap.

I don't want to bring down the happy, cutesy thread, but please don't leave those shavings in there, and seed mix is TERRIBLE for rats. It is okay as a once in a while treat, but all the time is no good.

I mix my own food for mine. You can probably google Suebee's mix and find something similar to what I make. It's super cheap to make and lasts for quite a while.

They are adorable though, and the champagne looks to me like there is a chance that she will molt out her coat.

Okay first off those pics were taken days ago.

They came with the mix and shavings from the oops breeder. They are now on Oxbow regal rat, Lab Blocks, fresh fruit, veggies ect and carefresh in their litter pan. I thought i mentioned in the op that the shavings weren't staying .

Yup sure did.........I just havent had the time to post new pictures. I am not completely clueless. I did research before getting these girls. I never planned to keep them on a seed mix and I most definately was not going to keep those shavings. That was literally an hour after getting them before I had gone to pick up the rest of their food, bedding, and toys.

Thank you :). And know they airn't my first rats. When I was a kid we had a pair of males. But this is my first time owning females. So far im loving owning females alot more. But they are still babies so they have plenty of time to grow up and be rotten :p
