We adopted this amazing girl yesterday. After losing Buster it has been a year and we are ready to take in another dog that needs us.
After looking at another dog, the shelter found a better fit for her. We were extremely disappointed, so I was looking online that same night through another shelter and found Lizzy's picture. She just popped out at me. Then I showed my family, and they saw something special too. So, we called the shelter to inquire about her. And we said we wanted to meet her Saturday, because that's what worked for us. So we e-mailed an application and that same afternoon we asked if she got it and we were approved. Before we asked, the lady said she'd put a hold on her for us and we can come get her Saturday. So we did. She has a sad background.
She was abused, locked out of the house (never lived indoors) and starved. When the shelter got her, she was emaciated. But they put 9 lbs. on her while there. She is still fairly thin, but it's super hard to tell in pictures as my phone takes close ups. She's having a little trouble settling in the house, being that she has never lived indoors but she is getting better. She is such a great dog, wags her tail and gives kisses. Especially when it's time to go outside and go do her business she gets excited. Probably because she was used to being walked at the shelter. We're in love and couldn't be happier with her! On to pictures... also side note - she only wears the choke chain to go on leash outside, it's off in the house as soon as she gets back in. It came with her adoption along with her blue collar (going to get her a different collar soon) and she doesn't seem to mind it.
We're also not sure what breeds she is. Breed guesses are welcome.
She's very houndy though! So we are thinking Black & tan Coonhound/Lab! She's 54 lbs. so she doesn't have anything small in her. Oh and she's 2 years old!
