Well, Alicia will know how you feel lea. she joined a horse forum, and because she was 15, they didn't take her opinions seriously and admin deleted all of her posts, even though the forum was an all age forum, like this one. She posted "That horse looks arabian" and she went back and her post was deleted. Replacing it was a post by admin saying "That horse looks arabian".
She was so mad. But, Lea, I agree with you, the youngsters should have the right to express their opinion too.

BTW--- The policy on this forum was completly bogus. It said "The admin has the right to ban users without warning or comment."

well if she does she does, if she don't she don't! maybe this time off allowed her to cool down, seems to me she was always typing in all caps (shouting), or calling folks stupid, and that is not mature for an older woman. and i don't think it got any better before the time out.

PoeLuver I think your typing has gotten a lot better and I can understand it for the most part :)

As for manchesters, she did have a nack for getting people upset, but I think I'd be glad to see her back. I personally don't have anything against her.

Yeah, I know how you feel.. I'm not picked at or ignored much because of my age online, I honestly don't care much about that (I love you guys, don't get me wrong, but if I'm ignored here it's not a huge deal to me.) but in real life there are people who have completely ignored my ideas or suggestions, only to recieve the same idea/suggestion from an adult and say it's just -brilliant- and 'why didn't anyone think of that sooner'?

I miss Manchesters. I didn't always agree with her either but I liked how matter-of-fact and brutally honest she is. I'm so sick of forums where everyone stays and expect you to to stay politically correct even when someone is being a complete idiot (reason why I left globalpaw). There are always ways of saying things nicely, just sometimes it isn't worth it.

I have not been around this forum for long, but at the beginning of my journey here I posted a thread about how wonderful I thought clicker-training was. Manchesters came on immediately with a different point of view to mine, and we ended up having a pretty nice chat on here about the merits of different types of training. I found her to be very open-minded if you had evidence to support your claims, and reasons behind what you said. I felt that she was knowledgeable and willing to share her knowledge. I also thought reading some other posts that she could be a bit stubborn, but a lot of people are! I would like to see her back because she seemed very nice to me - I haven't read much so I can't really make a judgement, but I was impressed with the way she was in my thread about clicker-training.

It would be nice to see her back here again as I think she is very knowledgeable, even if we (us) don't share the same opinion. It would be a pretty boring forum if we all had the same thoughts, methods, breeds etc., but it is also important how we put our thoughts across.

She did hurt me a lot however when I was new by implying that I was a moron for having 'allowed' my puppy to get stolen - that made me feel so sad because I feel like I am a responsible dog owner and I have treated all the dogs I have ever had like they were my own children.

Anyway, it's all good and it would be nice to see her back.

I got an email from Carole [Manchesters] this morning. I am just waiting for her permission to post it because she said alot of really nice things and I cannot put it into words like she can. So I have saved it and I will wait for her permission and then I will post it if acceptable by her, here for all to read.

I was annoyed when Manchesters said that young people are stupid and can't know anything about dogs....I don't really care what people think of me, especially if they're cyberfriends (no offense :)), but that ticked me off a little. I don't know as much as some people - but I believe I know enough for my age. I certainly know more than most of my friends - most of my friends don't know zip about dogs (no offense to them, either, though they'll probably never visit here LOL).

If you put someone on your ignore list, can they tell they're on it?

She told me she did not in any way dislike young people. She simply wished to share her knowledge. She also felt that some of what she tried to share was simply to help out and not meant to offend anyone. She was insulted at not being considered a behaviouralist after so many years of shaping dogs behaviour.

Lea she simply placed you on ignore to make your life less complicated.

She has been unbanned and she said she may someday come back and post here.

Well maybe people would actually listen to what she has to say if she actually respected what they have to say. Now, yes, Manchesters was attacked several times here and that ticked me off as I have been attacked here too. But if she wants people to listen to what she has to say, the best way is to be nice.

I think it's dumb that people are jumped on here because they don't feed a certain food or don't train a certain way. It's like all of a sudden you abuse your dogs and you're stupid . Most of Manchesters training methods just aren't for me and my dogs. I have found what works for my dogs - which is neither 100% traditional method nor 100% positive methods. My dogs love their training, they love obeying my commands. The food Manchesters feeds is not for me, and I will never feed that diet.

Well, Manchesters was (and still is) a valued member of the chazhound community, as everyone is. I hope that she comes back to share her experiences with us all as most of us enjoyed hearing them.

One reason that Manchesters was not nice is because she was accused of abusing her dogs, and other horrible things. She just didn't make a good first impression, and that's how she got a bad reputation with some members. I don't think it's very fair that her first impression seems to be the most important. Towards the end, she was trying to be nice. I wouldn't be very nice if someone told me I was abusing my dog.
