low protein food help please!

My initial thought was to look for a senior food. Innova senior is 18.49% according to their website. I'll keep looking 
ETA: on another forum a person looking for lower protien foods, Flint River was suggested, as well as Royal Canin (though not as high quality as Innova, deff a step up from science diet!)

low protein for urinary issues isn't a choice I've really ever heard about before... care to elaborate as to why he's recommended this route? You've peaked my interest!
There are options for you, don't worry about that! Senior foods are going to have a lower protein level. Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure Innova Senior is 18%.

No, its not. Protein is the building block of muscle and you don't want your dog on a low protein diet.
It was once thought that high protein diets caused/agravated kidney problems. This was because several years ago there was research that pointed to that. However, that research was done on rats. High protein diets DO cause/agravate kidney problems in rats but not dogs.
All throughout the vet world the accepted practice is to avoid high protein when a dog had kidney problems. This is perpetuated by the Hill's sales reps trying to sell their k/d kibble.
Slowly vets are learning better now. Protein doesn't work the kidney hard as was once thought. It has basically no effect on kidneys.
