:rofl1: Our company just got sold so I decided to test out our internet limits and see if the new employer blocked the same stuff as our old one.

I tried out a few forums and they let me in so I was thinking... Great! I'll see what's going on at chazhound.
Umm... No. I typed it in and the the big warning came up : Websense Blocking! Unauthorized Content: Marijuana :yikes:

So...... Just what were y'all talking about today? :rofl1: I kept looking around me fully expecting our IT guys to come running over.:rofl1: I have no idea why it says that is the reason for blocking it.

That's not almost fired. the IT guys couldn't care less where you're trying to surf on company time. You could be trying to go to a hardcore porn site and they won't run over. They're too busy trying to help out the people who broke their computer.

At most, the log of your internet activity got a little note in it.

Nope.. I'm pretty sure they are looking for any reason to get rid of us. They bought us out and then put us on a hiring freeze while they move most of our stuff to India..
I'm not too worried about it but I was still like "Oops... Guess I won't get to see puppy pics after all"

Did it come up with that reason? When we were my old company, it would just say Unauthorized Content : Internet Forum & Message Board.

I just think the reason is hilarious.

Errr... That depends on the company policy. I have several clients who are VERY interested where their uses surf at work. In fact, evidence I have colelcted for some clients has resulted in dismissals.

The FIRST thing I do when a client complains about internet latency is put a sniffer on (or use ISA, if they have it) and show my customer just exactly what their people are doing. Nearly every time, they are shocked.

Screwing around on the web is a stupid reason to get fired, if you ask me. And a resume stain to boot.

ETA: No matter how smart you think you are, we IT guys ALWAYS know what you are doing. Those "proxy" sites used to bypass internet filters still leave a footprint that I know how to find. At work, it ain't "Big Brother" hassling you. Your employer ain't Big Brother and has every right to regulate what you do while they are paying you.

Sorry, not picking on you specifically Neo... I just deal with stuff like this every day. LOL A lot of people think that internet at work is a right or something.

Oh, I fully understand what IT is capable of and what they do on a general basis. My home forum has a large percentage of people who work in IT and bring in stories about the stupidity of people when it comes to using the internet at work.
