Let's Be Controversial

How do people go to public restrooms near you? If a man dressed as a woman goes into a woman's bathroom, because they identify as a woman, they aren't standing at a urinal flapping their package around for your kids to see, or do women's bathrooms near you have urinals and are used as exhibition platforms?

Sadly I don't think this person is wanting to be shown facts. They just want to hold tight to their "beliefs" and take them as fact to excuse away their prejudice behavior and make it ok to treat people as second class citizens.

There many comments show just had little they know about the LGBT community. Having used to think similarly until I was ready to listen and learn, I don't think any facts will change their minds. Luckily those who make the laws and the majority of people are way more educated on this issue.

What public restroom are you going to where you see people's parts?

You need to read a book or something about the LGBT community. You are basing your opinions on ideas that are not even facts, your view of the world is very skewed. What makes me sad is that there are a lot of people with your views, especially in Texas. I wish I could get everyone that's homophobic and transphobic to stop using misinformation for their reasoning.

You are lacking very basic knowledge about the LGBT community. Go read a book before you start bashing the commmunity you know nothing about.

I'm not reading these responses. I just think it's ****ing gross that this person's shitty opinions have garnered the attention they have. Not the respondents' faults. Just... not good. Not worth it. **** her and her tiny little world.

Yep. Being bigoted because of ignorance (which seems to be one of the root causes here) is one thing but being proud of said ignorance is another.

I'm just confused as to why we're talking about who goes into what bathroom in a thread on controversial dog opinions on the general dog chat forum?

Related I think it's weird when people take their dogs into bathrooms at dog shows, especially when there are signs outside the bathroom doors that say NO DOGS ALLOWED IN BATHROOMS.
That's about all I think about that.

If you are seeing someone else's junk in a woman's bathroom, then YOU are the creep, lol. I've never in my life caught even a flash of anyone's parts. How in god's name would you even know what parts someone in the stall next to you had unless you looked on purpose?

Time to make all bathrooms gender neutral, already, IMO. Just cut this hateful BS off at the root.

I dont want to be using a public bathroom with a man.

I dont want to use locker rooms or showers with a man.

And unless you are not on facebook, you know that I am not alone. This has only become an issue in the last year or so, what the hell happened? everyone was FINE before this.

A transgender woman can still be attracted to women, sexuality has nothing to do with gender identity , that is why it bothers me, to have someone "checking me out" while I try to change in the gym or whatever.

Lord have mercy, people, is this what this country has come to? Where I might not know who will be in the women's facilities when I walk in???

I pretty much walk into every pubic restroom and locker without knowing anybody in there. Has never stopped me from doing my business.

If you don't want people checking you out in locker rooms, change in private.

Everyone was not fine before. Those who were not fine were silenced. Societal progression and open mindedness has allowed them to be heard. This is a good thing.

"This country", being the USA, has finally started to realize that the feelings of white, straight, rich men aren't the only ones that matter. This is what "this country" has come to. Call it a period of enlightenment! This is also a good thing.

Unless you also want lesbians banned from the locker room this is a BS argument.

"People were FINE before this"

Except for all those transgendered who got brutally beaten, murdered, driven to suicide.

Unless that's what you mean by FINE. Somehow, I can buy you being okay with slaughtering transsexuals to make life easier for you.

By your logic, are people who are bisexual destined to never be allowed to use restrooms/locker rooms?

When I graduated University I was pretty blown away by the number of lesbian women who play hockey. I don't mean that in a bad way, it was just interesting to me that the number suddenly skyrocketed. I have no idea if that's just a consequence of increased age of the population I was dealing with (more time for people to have come out, perhaps increased comfort level with being out compared to younger people, I have no idea), but it was certainly a significant increase from all my hockey teams prior to that (University and high school).

Anyway, I'm very open to people being whatever sexual orientation rings their bell. I did sort of have a moment of "Well, this is interesting that we're all in the same dressing room, but technically someone in here could be checking me out the way a man might if this were a co-ed dressing room". Now, that said, the level to which I get naked in a hockey dressing room is about the same as going to a public beach so I'd be comfortable with men being present anyway, and if I were to undress more I would quite honestly be uncomfortable doing so even in front of other heterosexual women (I'd go to the bathroom if I needed to take off my under garments). So really it didn't matter to me, but I did think about it as just an interesting aside.

Ultimately, I like to think that all human beings have some sort of decency and impulse control, and I would expect the same level of that from anyone - man, woman, transgendered, gay/lesbian/straight.

Exactly this.

I personally would find it less awkward if people just used the bathroom for whatever sex they dress as/identify as. In fact, it's very possible that I have already walked by someone in a bathroom that's transgender at some point in my life and I was totally oblivious to it. There's no way I'd know.

Haha I can very much relate to this. I am one of a few straight women that play basketball in a Lesbian basketball league. It's for lesbians and allies, but really, 99% made up of lesbians.

If people want to check me out, go ahead. I would be flattered! But really, as a straight woman, I'm not very attractive to them. Especially not when there are a bunch of other lesbians around to choose from! Also, most of the time it's just me and my sister in the changerooms, and I still change in the stall if I have to get naked.

Amen to your last paragraph!
