Lessening shedding?

Are there any magic tricks? Hank sheds SO much it's ridiculous. I am not sure how he is not bald.

I brush him out a lot. Tried the furminator. He's on good food. I have thousands of hairs on me all the time.

What specifically are you doing to deal with the hair now and how frequent?

My initial suggestion is almost always a bath and a blowout with a dog dryer once a week.

I bathe him probably every 2 weeks or so. I have a comb, furminator, slicker brushes, and one of the zoom grooms (seems to do nothing). I'm not the most frequent with brushing but he does get baths. I have never blown him out with a dog dryer.

I use my dog dryer for everything from drying the dog to cleaning the air ducts and cob webs off the ceiling. It's a great investment.

Also, I use mine for de shedding my clothes that like to grab dog hair.

I realize they are not a quick and cheap solution but darn it they work well.

I may have to invest in a force dryer one day. I'm not sure I can at the moment though. There's a couple 'groom your own dog' type places here that have them.

I have heard amazing wonderful things about their deshedding shampoo and conditioner. I'm going to be trying these with my beasts and investing in a force air dryer. I'm tired of tumbleweeds (Even though I totally signed up for them, lmao)

I miss having this service close by! Definitely do it, it's worth it. The dryer should get quite a bit of coat out .

Ok! I will try that out and see if that helps for a while! I've thought about it but was kind of iffy because he hates baths and might would hate the store after that. But.... might be worth it?

Oops, sorry, was referring to the Furminator brand. Annie linked me to a force air dryer I'm saving up to buy as well, but for the life of me I can't find it. It may be on her blog though.

There's an air dryer listed here, but I may go for one slightly higher power. I'm not sure. I don't care about the noise, and neither do my dogs, I can about how much freaking fur I can blow off of them

That dryer is great for little dogs, or for home grooming. Not for shop grooming. If you're like me grooming 5 - 7 dogs a day, get something higher power.

Get the rest of the FURminator system. It will change your life. And yes, a high velocity dryer would really help you, but if you have a do it yourself place close, take advantage!.

Heck yes! It's so good that when I offer it in my salon if the owners are skeptical I give them a 48 hour period to decide weather or not to pay the extra $15 for it (they always do. Always.)

I really like the K-9 products. I've never had a bad one in any of the shops I worked at. Mine is a K9 fluffer. Love it.

I have also used Challengeair and they were good but took a while to warm up.

The metroair ones were the best of the cheap ones IMO.

If you have multiple size dogs I can't recommend variable speed dryers enough. Basically it has a little rheostat on it to control the air being pushed.

What counts as a 'small dog'? I'm assuming Hank would still be ok with a small dog dryer?

Forced air is your best bet. Even if you do it every three months it helps.
