I have seen several around the tents outside the base, but some Anti Taliban Afghans had a 4 month old pup on the base today. He was AWESOME. pale wolf grey with white markings. Gangly and leggy as heck, a super happy boy named Raja. His ears were cropped clean off and his tail docked to half because the owners plan on matching him. He must come from a well known line because they traded a japanese motorcycle for him (99% of motorcycles in Afghanistan are chinese and Jap bikes are very valuable). I'll try to get pics of him, inshallah. I totally want one now.

If Michael ever comes across a homeless pup on his deployments, I'm almost certain it will be coming back with him. Although his deployments aren't likely to be to the middle east.

Can't wait to see pictures! I love them...they are a breed I really wish I was in the position to own.

actually, i was very excited because up til now All the afghans i have talked to had no idea about how to go about buying a koochi dog. so now if i can get good mailing addresses and phone numbers for these guys, it'll be start for bringing these dogs to the USA. and i am acquainted with a lady in NV working with the USDA to try to run LGDs with cattle in the wolves in the northern rockies. the Koochi dogs have a reputation for killing the iranian and tibetan wolves as well as jackals, lynx and snow leopard that molest the herds. right now the approximate cost to fly a dog from Kabul to Dubai and then the USA is about $3-4000 US.
he is more than cute he is from good blood and you can see it in his natural athleticism.
