Hi Everyone

The other day my almost 8 month old pup started occasionally coughing like he was trying to clear his throat and then would retch up a bit of clear phlegm. At first I though he had something bothering his throat but checked it out as best I could and saw no issues. I researched and confirmed these are classic Kennel Cough symptoms. He was very alert and playful and had a good appetite -- Just this occasional horking. I kept a very close eye on him, made him sit in a steamy bathroom for awhile and gave him some honey and warm water as a throat soother. The symptoms disappeared in about 24 hours
He was vaccinated for Bordatella August. We also attended a dog show 1 week prior to the symptoms showing up and I suspect this is where he might have picked it up. I understand the vaccine cannot protect against all the causes / strains. If this was Kennel Cough I am glad it seemed to be a very mild case --the 24 hour time frame just seemed so quick. Does anyone have any experiences similar to this? Could it have possibly been something else? He has been normal for the past 2 days now....Thanks for any feedback :)

Our town had a massive kennel cough outbreak over the summer. I work at a vet clinic, and we had dogs who hacked for weeks, and dogs who were over it in a few days. My Glitch (about 6 months old at the time and the only one who was vaccinated for it-go figure) coughed a grand total of 3 times in the space of a day, and was fine.
