Oh, goodness. :( Poor baby. It reminds me of when my neighbor's loose dog was sprayed with some sort of chemicals. :(
The sores and swelling looked much the same. I hope that whatever it is you find out and he gets better as fast as possible.

Thanks everyone for your concern.

We had our vet appointment Saturday and it was decided that we where to do a biopsy right then and there. So we knocked Duke out and took the biopsy. We left with pain meds and some meds to get all infections under controll. (Werid thing was with his nose looking that worse for wear, he wasnt running a fever) We should get the results back tomorrow (Tuesday). We went back to the vet today because she wanted to see it again. He know has some crusties on the tips of his ears that you can feel. A portion of his nose has turned to pick, all the black is gone. The vet doesnt think this will fix itself. She is thinking it is some form of autoimmune disease. If this is the case he will be on steriods for awhile possibly forever. We will know forsure tomorrow once the reults come back.

I will post the results when I get time tomorrow.

(He just slept all day, my b/f who normally wants nothing to do with Duke was bringing him pizza crust, which he never gets people food, right up to his bed for him, He just feels so bad for him)

And this was Sunday, a day after the vet really cleaned it.

He still just sleeps and is border line depressed. The side effects to the pain meds is depression. Im just keeping an eye on him. He's still eating, drinking and going to the bathroom.

We got Duke's results back.....

He has Eosinophilic Furunculosis.

From what I gathered from the internet it is,

Uncommon to rare in dogs
Exact case is unknown
It is thought to be caused by hypersensitivy reaction to anthropod bites.
Sores start to show up within 24 hours of bite.

Treatment is short term steroids.

Prognosis = GOOD!!

We start the steriods tonight. Hopefully they start to work fast :)

Thanks everyone for your concern

It's awful he has anything at all, but I'm so glad it's pretty treatable. Give Duke a treat for me. <3

That would be "arthropod" ... i.e., "spider"!! Thought perhaps that might have been a possibility (previous post) because of the speed of the reaction. Poor baby had a hypersensitive reaction to a nasty old spider bite. But that's MUCH better news than any autoimmune disorder!! The short-term pred will help calm the hypersensitivity, and once results of the bite are gone ... he's healed. :)

Gotta convince him not to stick his nose in any more spider webs though. Poor baby, he probably thought it looked interesting ... only to get bit. :(
