Popper got a mosquito bite over the weekend (I believe it was Friday) in the middle of his tail, I sprayed it with allercain spray and figured that was that.

i love the little dog but i seriously want to strangle him right now. He's gone from oh it's a bit itchy to ripping out his tail hair and incessantly licking. Lick lick lick lick lick. I tried putting hydrocortisone cream directly on it, but he has become EXTREMELY aggressive about his tail, and after I managed to wad him into a blanket and apply the cream, he just sat and licked it all off. Allercain is supposed to taste bad (not usually a deterrant for Popper (he likes cayenne red pepper straight out of the bottle)) but the alcohol in it was hurting him.

Can I give him some benedryl? I have the pill form because Roofus takes it a lot, how much would I give a 30# dog? I just want some relief for the little guy. I DO have an ecollar somewhere, but if you've ever heard beagle squeaking, multiply that by ten and all day long... i'd rather avoid it.

suggestions, comments, complaints... oh wait, no complaints!

i give roofus a whole pill, but he's more than three times the weight of popper. I actually think I can give him more, but one does it for him.

thanks bnwalker! i'll give him a bit before bed so he can have a good night's sleep.
