is it bad to soften kibble to get dog to eat it

Zack has a hard time eating kibble so my husband has been putting a bit of water in it to soften it. Is that okay. (He has never had an easy time eating kibble and he won't touch soft food, which I don't care for because it causes teeth issues and bad breath)

I mean it won't take anything away from the food will it?

Okay thanks. He has had a lot of stomach issues....he is a poodle. And he now will only eat it if its softened (I tried to give it too him regular)

so would it be better to wet the food for both of them? The other one is a terrier mix

Actually it doesn't. It's a misconception that kibble 'cleans' teeth. It doesn't. Neither is better or worse for teeth condition.. and food alone shouldn't cause breath issues. Dental decay would though.

I've always added water !!!! When soupy they don't wolf it down and it doesn't soak up stomach juices . I personally feel that kibble is better for the teeth .

Wetting kibble is easier on dogs. Dogs would never eat things that are as try as kibble.. back when I fed it I always added water.

Kibble doesn't do any tooth cleaning.. it is an old misconception. If you have ever had a dog throw up after eating you will see that most kibbles are still whole, others may have been bitten in half. Even Dekka would eats slowly and sounds like she is chewing will throw up 90% whole kibble.

Now feeding raw meaty bones WILL keep teeth in good shape!

Trouble eat kibble like he can't chew it? I'd look in his mouth and see if he's having some dental issues.

And I wouldn't really take in his problems with just being a poodle, that's like saying that all poodles have problems..
