They're doing well! They've been able to hang out in the same room together with her leashed and Trent loose. Trent has made me appreciate him even more now that I have her - I thought it would be a complete mess and he'd be obnoxious, never stop bothering her, loud, etc. I should give him more credit, he's been an angel. He goes about his day as usual and will leave her alone/the room alone if I tell him to.
His dog reactivity is also actually better now that she's here, probably because he's quickly learned ignoring dogs means lots of reward lol He's just been a very good dog. He's also hurt his leg somehow yesterday so he is on rest right now...but I took a walk with both of them for the first time this morning. Went great!! Got pulled this way and that, but overall they were very, very good.
It'll be a while before they can both run around together in the fields! Gotta work on recall first and just rewarding them for getting along.
Where is this trail/bridge/somewhere? I must walk it the next time I'm up around Portland, because I feel like the rest of the area must be awesome too. LOL. (I also feel like I hiked here or a place that looks a lot like this when I was up there)
Lucky you! I love breeders that take the time to find great homes for retired dogs. It can be such a great situation for everyone. It's how I got my first dog, though she was much younger and retired only because of pyo, but same type of deal. Good luck, she's one lucky girl and i'm talking about both of you
Thank you so much, I am really grateful the breeder trusted me to have her and is happy with how things turned out Makes me feel great, and now I have this amazing dog. I do not believe I would have gotten a dog like her, so ideal for what I wanted, if it had not been for the breeder messaging me. I'm very, very happy!!
Okay, I know I keep only posting photos of her standing/sitting/lying around, but to be fair, it's HARD to play with her and take photos too! She likes to bounce on and off of me, and most pictures end up like this
Also, her and Trent are learning to coexist on the bed! It's pretty much not a problem, Trent usually moves off the bed because he doesn't like to share, but I want him to enjoy doing what he usually does.
I only stepped away to take a picture - I was by him the whole time feeding him treats, and Siege was leashed. And he's not lip lifting, just making a funny face lol
My incredibly good boy <3
And Siege being super adorable and spoiled. Love this off switch! She sleeps perfectly on my bed through the night
