My mother in law comes STORMING into my house and says..

"YOU'LL HAVE to go and get me some chicken feed, i've run out and Claude who I normally buy it from is not at home today"

I said.. "Pardon?"

She said.. "You'll HAVE to go and get me some chicken feed, they've got nothing to eat"

I replied.. "Is that, Please Louise, would you be kind enough to go OUT of your way to take me to the shops to get some feed for my chickens because I have never gotten off my backside and learnt to drive and even though you went to the feed merchants for horse feed last friday, and I didn't think about MY chickens at the time, when I could have easily bought some?"

She just stared at me blankly.. I mean.. I'm sorry, but who on earth does she think she is??!! She expects me to drop everything I am doing at the drop of a hat, and drive her where she needs to go, without ever offering to pay for the costs etc and wait around on her..

I went of course, I wouldn't leave the chickens or any animal for that matter with nothing to eat.. But I am seriously cross!!

Who does she think she is???

THE MOTHER-IN-LAW! That's who :rofl1:

Didn't you get the memo about bowing in her presence and doing her bidding without question? Pffffffffft, you need to be better informed if you're to be a proper daughter-in-law!

P.S. I like what you said to her, might give her food for thought the next time she needs a FAVOR ;)

oh wow! The nerve of some people! glad you went though, do not want those poor chickens to go without food.

That is like when my dad went out of his way to borrow a van and drive my aunt around after picking up my grandmother from the hospital (even though my uncle HAS a car and can drive!) and then she started yelling at him because he could not drive her somewhere since my cousin needed back her van. Some people just do not realize that the world does not revolve around their schedules!

She's in a miff because she has a dentists appointment in town tomorrow and I told her that she'll have to take the bus! :rofl1:

I'm sorry, I don't mind taking her if I am going, but not just to please her ladyship.. The nearest big town is about 30 miles away.. I don't drive backwards and forwards there for my health!

Wow... what a pill.

Kudos to you! Your response is far more kind than mine would have been. I'm funny about stuff like that - I'd help *anyone* who would ask, but I'll be damned if someone demands anything from me.... it sure does get me bent out of shape.

Pfffttt. You were nicer than she deserved, by a long shot. Besides, they're chickens. They can get by for a day or two on scratch! Or she could go out with a shovel and turn the dirt over for them to pull bugs and worms.

We have to keep the chickens shut in a run (admittedly it's huge) because of weasels, ferrets etc we lost several chickens to weasles, they just randomly rip their heads off and leave the rest... And there's not alot left in there for them to scratch at.

She's just a total cow.. Although she did have me in hysterics the other day, she is so gullible, she watched some programme on the telly and is now convinced that the Americans are going to build a shield around the entire sun to help combat global warming, basically she thinks that you guys are going to wrap the sun with some sort of reflective, aluminium foil equivalent to stop us all from burning.. She said it sounded quite logical, after all Alu foil stops meat from burning whilst it's cooking! ;) :rofl1::rofl1::rofl1:
