I'm an odd teen

'While other teens get excited to go shopping to buy clothes from Abercombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Old Navy, Khols, all those other stupid name brand clothing stores, I get excited for GOODWILL clothes!!!

Today I went to goodwill and found a NICE pink(not bright, but lighter pink) blazer as well as a blue striped long sleeve button dress shirt.. (do they have an actual name for shirts like that? lol)

There was also a REALLY nice Kasper skirt suit, but it was just a bit too large for me.

So YAY! I have alot of nice suits now. (Yes, another reason I'm so odd. I'm sure most people my age don't even own skirt suits :p)

Lol, you sound like my friend Lizzo. She's got the best knack for finding good stuff at the DAV and Goodwill...me, I can't even find a pair of pants that look decent, never mind the right combo of shirts that pull off the "this is punk rock" and not "I can only afford to shop at thrift stores".

I guess it's not the thing to do anymore but when I was in high school we loved thrift stores. Still do. Especially artsy people. I still shop at them sometimes and another girl in the office does too. It's fun! You never know what you're going to find :)

Odd= good in my book. ;)
I used to love to check out thrift stores and put together funky outfits. I haven't done that in a while but I'm sure I will sometime not too far away.

I give a pretty penny for a shopping spree at old navy. I think i would get 5 pairs of jeans FIRST! Thrift stores are fine if your not 5'10 with 37 inch legs. I hate it when i feel like Jethro Clamet.

Yeah, I'm tall with long legs and I have a hard time finding pants long enough.

Everything i own comes from there. Everything my children grew up in came from there too. Half price mondays is school clothes shopping to me. mom needs buttons for something she has sewn, ( or use to she doesn't anymore) we went to the thrift store for it was cheaper then a card of buttons at the fabric shop. Tis all well and good most of the time.

But trust me Tessa, when it is a way of life, it gets old. You are smart to save money now, but don't let it be the only source. Go in once in a while and buy yourself something brand spanking new that makes you feel special.
JUst because you CAN.;)

Teens my age think thrift stores, goodwills, etc are "gross". They'd much rather spend $120+ on a pair of jeans from a name brand store. And lets not forget the $50 shirts! That is what makes me "odd" :p

Personally, I'm fine with shopping at places like Goodwill, thrift stores, walmart, and maybe the very occasional JC Penny. (Not like I have money to spend at more expensive places.Ive been wearing walmart, goodwill, and garage sale clothes my entire life.)

I will never buy at regular price ! Being in retail , I knew what the mark up was . I don't buy much , but love a good bargain . My favorite second-hand store is closed , but Goodwill is always well stocked . Tessa ..you get much more for your money shopping your way .

My store use to have sack sale, all you could fit in a sack for 3 dollars. I had a preteen girl, and some garments are just tooooo expensive so with one sack i bought the whole rack. I figure i saved HUNDREDS right there. I draw the line at underwear. My favorite skirt, my best shirt (the one i save for gallery openings) all came from that sale. When i was done i think it came to about 10 cents a piece. Aaron wouldn't be caught dead in thrift store clothes by the time he was 13 so he startd mowing lawns and bought his own. I didn't blame him, at that age my mom was still trying to sew my jeans. Have you ever seen home sewn jeans? Talk about feeling like geek of the week so by working at that age (yeah i found a place to hire me and pay me cash) i was able to buy my own clothes as well. THe wildest thing is i have purchased items at the thrift store, taken them to the consignment store and sold them for 10 times what i payed for them. Especially dressy dresses and halloween costumes.
Jeans on the other hand are the hardest find. I scan the rack and look for the legs that hang down the longest. Almost always they are too big in the waist. Sighs.,..the average woman is round and short.

It's still the thing to do in my town! lol
The local after school hangouts are the Dollar General and Salvation Army store.

I can't *ever* find anything decent at Goodwill. Lol, I wind up looking frumpy. I have, however, recently discovered the joy that is the clothing section of eBay.

I love Old Navy. Cute, inexpensive clothes.

Haha... funny, I am round and short and can never find jeans that fit either. I almost always have to roll up the legs of jeans with a nice style, or end up with jeans that somehow come up to my belly button. :-/

I hate shopping in general, so I just make my clothes last for years and depend on Christmas for any influx of new things.
