I didn't know where to put this, but here goes.
We have four dogs, and thats one dog too many according
to Arizona's state laws. They are also stressing my mother
and I out. so we decided that two of our dogs have to be
taken to the pound. Isabel (jack russel) and Heidi (german shepherd)
will probably have to leave. I'm just so sad because I had Isabel for 4 years
since she was a puppy. And Heidi is the only dog that will protect the
household. I hope they go to good homes. They'll always be in my heart.

How soon do you have to get rid of them? if you have time why don't you work on finding a home for them so your mind will be at ease knowing they are with someone great

Dogs that age won't stand a chance at the pound. You need to find a spot for them with a breed rescue organization or at least in a no-kill shelter if you don't find homes for them yourself.

I've never heard of a state law regarding the number of dogs someone can own. I wouldn't put any credence in that at all until I was shown the law IN THE OFFICIAL BOOKS.

I don't think states can pass laws like that--it would be unconstitutional. However many counties try it, and get away with it because people are too stupid to challenge the law. Nobody can take a person's dogs away without a trial...again thanks to the constitution.

I would suggest calling the American Dog Owners Association who study and record all state laws pertaining to dog ownership. They can at least offer some suggestions as to what to do BEFORE you get rid of any dogs. Of course, there are such things as only letting the dogs out two at a time, and only at night, etc.

that really sucks. I agree with the others, see if you can find homes for them yourself, you would feel so much better!

I dont know about the states but here in our city of Barrie in Ontario you're only allowed to have two dogs per household, it's in the by-laws... my husbands friend has three, also has to get rid of one. Stupid if you ask me... but what can you do about it, law is the law :(

I also agree...I've never heard of a law saying how many dogs a person can have. If you don't get to keep them though, it would be great if you can find a home for them...that would give you some peace of mind knowing that they would be going somewhere safe.
