If your dog was up for adoption, what would you write to describe him/her?

Harlow: 4 year old Boxer for adoption. Great house manners, crate trained, house trained, up to date on shots and spayed. Typical Boxer with bounds of energy and a sense of humor! This girl loves to hike, bike and run, but also is content to sleep all day. Would be best in a home with older children. Harlow typically bonds closely with a male and needs an active family. Dog interactions should be managed closely; no homes with dominant females. Fenced yard is a must for this girl.

Rider: 2-3 year old Australian Cattle Dog/ Border Collie for adoption. Rider loves his people and to cuddle. He is house trained, crate trained, up to date on shots, neutered and great in the home. Rider needs a home with no children and would do best in an active, but quiet home with few visitors. He is highly intelligent and loves to learn new tricks or go for a walk. Rider does have prey drive and needs management around cats or small animals. If you are looking for a loyal (but quirky) boy, this is your dog! Please touch base with the rescue for further information.

Tulsa: If you are looking for a young, active Australian Cattle Dog look no further. Tulsa is a 7 month old who is up for anything. She enjoys training and playing disc. Experienced owners only, please. Crate trained, house trained, and up to date on shots this girl is ready for a new life. An extremely active home is best with older children and no cats. Introductions to dogs should be closely managed, but she loves to play. Be ready for the ride of your life, this girl is a firecracker.

Wesley: He is a poodle. He is in a shelter. I will give you three guesses why.

(For the record, every poodle description in rescue poodles ever: _____ is a fun loving gal/guy who can be a bit nervous. ______ is very good at alerting you to strangers near your home, but once they meet them is just a big lovebug. Great with kids and other animals. Rehomed because the noise was a problem/everybody hated how emotional this animal is/why aren't they called 'Standard OverEmotional Dogs' instead of poodles.

Feist: 1 year old papered border collie from successful working lines seeking working or sport home, kids 8 and up. Loves all people, not shy at all. Can be a little nervous with children in the 1-2 range. Great with other animals, although she thinks they are all her babies, including but not limited to guinea pigs, rabbits, cats, and rats. Hasn't been tested on stock but all siblings have and are in training. Will chase cats if they run, but not in a prey driven way, in a 'COME BACK BABY I LOVE YOU AND WANT TO KISS YOU' way. HIGH toy drive, loves retrieving all toys and playing tug. Can be a little rough in play. HIGH Food drive, resource guards with other dogs but will let people take bones away and normally brings high value treats to chew on your lap. VERY affectionate and people oriented, can be a little rough with her love (slamming into you, head butting, etc.). Very high energy, makes little noise, and is crated trained. Knows basic commands and many tricks as well as being started in agility and frisbee. Adores her people. Ideal home would be a single man that works from home. (LMAO)

"2/10 would not recommend"

Also "Loud, obnoxious, occasionally high strung, driven, and lazy at the worst of times. Does not cuddle, won't enjoy prolonged contact, chases things, terrible recall, clumsy, likes to muzzle punch, rude, and highly possessive. Hide your toys, food, car, and cats. Please send him back to his original owner ASAP for your own sanity."

ummmm dibs, obviously.

Well now I need to amend Trent's profile: "will magically become the perfect dog for attractive, single men with working/sport experience ages 21-34. Former owner included in package."

Y'all really don't give your dogs much credit, do you!?

There must be some reason why you keep your dogs around other than to add a nice touch of hair to your outfits and give you an incentive to vacuum! Both valid reasons, mind you, but there must be more!

**desperately wants to teleport back home to give a cookie to my darling good dog."**
Nothing wrong with being honest. You can LOVE your dog and still not like them very much! You can love and like your dog and realize they have major failings.

Moo is going blind and deaf (in a busy environment he couldn't see me 10' away and started panicking) and has a recent bite history. I live in a house full of stupidity and neighbors coming by at all times, and there are drunken/high parties weekly. I can't do anything about it because my roommate has been fostering this environment for 5+ years. If there is another bite we've made the decision to PTS because of the lawsuit risk. I'm trying to get out of here as fast as I can, but it's not possible to just move when you're broke. I would be CRAZY to rehome h when he's so bonded to me and part of the biting is from confusion and anxiety due to his lost senses.

Pfft, why do you think I got a GSD? Definitely a dude magnet :p Just wait until you get yours and you'll be all set!

Bonus Pro Tip: walk them around a university campus/college town, because almost everyone had to leave their pets at home and getting to pet a dog makes their day.

Aw, this makes me sad for both you and Moo :( Just so sorry to hear how bad things can be with him. But there is no doubt that you love him completely and have done the best you can.

<3 thanks. TBH I don't know how he'd still be alive if I didn't love him so much. It will be ok and we have a vet appt soon for some pain management options, as I think that's part of it.

Let's see...

Buster is an almost 11 year old Coonhound. He is a great dog and is great with cats and other dogs as long as they know he's the boss. He is ok with older children as long as they are respectful of his space when he's sleeping. And he loves his food and treats!

Rudy - He is a very sweet, yet shy 7 year old Airedale Terrier Mix. He is good with other dogs and cats. No kids since he was abused by one when he was a pup. He loves his stuffed animals especially with squeakers and loves his treats!

Dixie - She is an amazing 5 year Schnauzer/Terrier Mix. She would be good for any home.. that has kids, cats and other dogs as long as they aren't pushy with her. As long as you play fetch with her every day, she will be your best friend FOREVER!

Archer (My brother's dog) - Archer is an amazing 2 year old Lab/Husky Mix. He knows a bunch of commands such as high five, sit, back up (when you're playing with him so he doesn't hover over you), lay down, heel etc. He loves to play tug so lots of rope toys are required. And he adores playing fetch and bobbing for toys in a kiddie pool! Also loves to play with the hose water!

He is a water loving dog so taking him swimming is a must. He also loves to tag along when camping. He loves other dogs that think he is the bee's knees, is good with cats (he's good with our cats when my brother and him visit) and all around loves everyone from children to adults. And he very much loves his food and prefers to sleep with his human. He also loves to pose for pictures. He's the best dog you will ever have! He also likes long hikes.

Here is Hank's ACTUAL petfinder description.

About HANK(181678)-Woof!

What a beautiful dog! Hank is a small (16 pound) 9 month old Heeler mix. He has the cute perky ears and merle coat of a Heeler. You can see his cute short tail too. Hank has a fun personality! He likes to run and play and also enjoys lots of cuddle-time. Hank likes dogs of all sizes. He's a good boy!
What is funny is one of the things people tell me over and over again is that Hank is a 'fun' dog. I think fun is code for wild.

Hmm. The idea of rehoming Duke is really unsettling, but I'll do my best.

Duke is a 4yr old purebred lab. He is a great family dog and hasn't met a person he hasn't loved immediately. He is gentle and patient with children of all sizes. If you're looking for a cuddly dog, look no further. You will never have to sit/sleep/stand/use the washroom alone ever again, he lives for cuddles. Duke has a calm demeanor in the house but is still a energetic dog that needs daily off leash walks to keep him happy. He has a great recall and doesn't have a penchant for wandering. He's a great swimmer and although isn't much for retrieving on land; he loves a game of fetch in the river. He's easily trainable as he is very food and praise motivated. He walks nicely on leash, and Duke also travels well in cars.

While Duke is well behaved at low populated dog parks, he is not overly fond of other dogs. He does well in controlled environments with polite dogs. Duke would do best in a house where he is the only dog. However, Duke is does great with cats (who are respectful to dogs). He does okay around caged animals, but should never be left unattended with access to them. Duke also isn't well suited to apartments or condos, as he doesn't like being alone. He has never destroyed anything but will howl/bark occasionally when left at home alone. Unfortunately Duke does have food allergies that I have yet to pin down, so he is on a low dose of cortico-steroids every day to reduce inflammation and itching. It costs roughly $50 a month.

All in all, I think he's a pretty good suitor to a lot of families. He's an easy keeper. I think lots of people want a dog that plays with other dogs, so I think that's his worst trait really. That and his daily meds. Which I don't think he would need if I didn't have roommates and if he didn't go to the plumbing shop every day, where he gets nothing but treats all the time.

Jasper (definitely would be my most easily rehomed dog!!):

Jasper is a beautiful 6 year old sable Rough Collie. He is a very easygoing dog, loves people of all ages, gets along with cats and farm animals, and does well with even just a short walk a day. He loves to sleep and doesn't mind being left alone in the house. He gets along very well with most other dogs, although sometimes reacts to intact males (happens rarely now). He is well trained and very well behaved. Come meet him and fall in love!

Onyx:

Onyx is a very high energy young Malinois. She is looking for a work or sport home with a knowledgeable dog person, preferably with prior Malinois experience. She needs long offleash runs and lots of training time daily. She is a very fun, high drive dog and is extensively obedience trained and knows many tricks, but can be busy in the house and sometimes like to counter-surf. She has lived in a home with a cat but needs supervision as she does like to chase them. She is neutral to fairly social with people when out and about, and needs structured introductions to new people arriving at the house. She can be reactive to unknown off leash dogs who approach her, so needs somewhat slow introductions to new dogs, but can ignore and work around other dogs who are also working. Not suitable for a home with small children.

Yarrow is pretty much unadoptable. He would have to go to someone that he knew previously, I think if he was thrown in to the shelter system he would maybe literally die, of fear. He is also aggressive with new dogs and all around just wouldn't be able to deal at all.

Umm, wrong. All it needs to say is "already promised to Grace, so back off".
