I hadn't spayed Mia. :(

I know, it's silly. But she's just really grown into herself lately. When I first looked at her, I was told she was a show prospect but she'd also be willing to sell her to the right active pet home. It was cheaper. I wasn't sure I wanted to breed anyways. I went with the spay contract and had her spayed. I've been sending pics to the breeder and both of us know Mia is a definite conformational improvement on her mother.

I know I wanted a foundation bitch eventually. Didn't think I was ready for one. Now I have a spayed one that would have been perfect to start with. Bah. She's nicer than most papillons I see in the ring. Head's a little snippy but she's proportioned great and certainly not lacking in drive and athleticism.

Although maybe it's for the better. The idea of starting a line based on Mia spawn is kind of scary. I'll probably try to get a relative for a foundation eventually. Mia's got just about everything I want in a pap.

Am I the only one that ever regrets these things? I should have bought her on that show contract...

I wish you wouldn't have either! She is gorgeous. However, there will be others. And yes, I have regretted the same thing more than once!

It is a pity. She is a lovely dog! Her head could easily be softened by the correct male. I am not making this easier am I? LOL!

No! lol

I know there will be another when the timing is better. Two of her brothers are finished and should be producing litters soonish. I think Monkey's already got some pups on the ground. So maybe I can get a dog out of one of them in a few years. At least I know which lines to look at (and they're all strongly throwing hound tricolors, which I love).

Her breeder says she's the dog they most wish they had kept for themselves. Ah well, I guess. I just hope if I ever get a foundation that she is as nice as Mia is.

If Izzie was registered, i'd definitely would've not spayed her and titled her in OB and Agility and used her to start my own line of Pugs.

Which would make me a very bad person in alot of peoples' minds (especially within the breed) but oh well! My pugs would be healthy and able to do way more than alot of pugs these days. Pugs aren't just a pretty face in my mind!

So no, you're def. not alone.

Nope. Getting rid of my dog's testicles was a great choice as dogs don't pick on him anymore. Poor thing used to get mauled by rowdy young men out to preform a home castration.

However, I wish Mia wasn't spayed either. I want a little Mia.

I wish I'd found Daisy earlier.

My boyfriend's mom just looked at her with $$ in her eyes - "zomg basset puppiez = BIG MUNNIEZ!" So they had her bred, and continued to keep her outside in a filthy kennel, and she got pyo and had an emergency spay.

I'm not saying she's the best example of the breed, but I would've liked to have had the option and run all the health screens and see "what she's made of", so to speak. She's not the overdone, exaggerated features basset that would do well in the show ring, but I have NEVER met such an exuberant, athletic member of the breed. And if how well she's held up this far is any indication of health/longevity... well, this is the kind of basset I could see getting into the breed with.

I like that Mia is correct and not overly stylish. She would do well in the ring and finish easy, I believe, but she's not bred on any real fashionable lines. She's pretty much American and I love that. No Japan in the pedigree at all.

mia is stunning, was this her mothers last litter? mayhaps the breeder would be willing to repeat the breeding down the line a bit and mabe get another mia out of it.

I know the feeling!

Rylie was charting to be a very small full grown adult female... so we made the decision to have her spayed. As a 4 year old adult, she now weighs 4lbs... which would've been perfect for the ring.

Tucker is growing up to be quite nice... I'm still debating showing him and he'll be left intact until we come to a decision eventually.

She was her mom's first litter, actually. I like the sire's pedigree better than the dams and I like his structure better too. But I really like the combination of the two.

She may repeat the breeding now that she's seen what Mia grew up into. Not sure. I think if they did though, they'd keep a show quality girl though.
