This is true, but I kind of like to know that the people in the clinic I use dont HATE them, don't you? I mean I would like to know my cats are safe when they are sick.

But you can't say cats aren't smart. I mean I never had the hood of my car etched. They maybe know who to etch or something. lol.
Tee hee.

I'd prefer that everyone that works in a clinic appreciate animals for what they are. As long as someone does their job and does it well, I guess I can't complain too much. It is ironic though, that someone works in a vet clinic and doesn't like animals they have to come in contact with. That'd be like me saying I don't like working with kids when I work in an infant/toddler program. :D

BP I made this comment because this is a person who PMs me perpetually for advice on her "beloved" cat, up to, and including today. So you can imagine my shock after all the time and effort I have put into the responses.
Ah, I do believe it was a joke, though...

Who said that cats arent smart ??? hahah so funny... just because you have never had your car scratched up by a cat doesnt mean that they dont do it, maybe you like cats climbing on your car but I dont... and im sure their are many others that dont....

ETA: didnt you know everything can be about a joke unless someone makes it about a cat, then its OMG OMG OMG....

I don't know, I've always had a problem with people who just can't stand animals at all. Like, I've had friends whose parents don't like any animals, not even fish! As in, the kids didn't have ANY pets... And whenever they would drop off or pick up their kids at my house, the parents would either stay in their car or stand nervously in the doorway. And, growing up with a healthy amount of animals in my life, I felt kind of bad for those kids. I don't show it, because it's rude and probably unreasonable, but it always sets off this little ping of annoyance in me. That said, I always walk my dog(s) on a leash. And if anyone goes by, I'll do my best to step out of their way and make my dogs do the same. But most people I pass don't have a problem with the dogs. This one lady I passed who was pushing a stroller with a baby in it and tugging along a toddler actually asked if her kids could pet them, and I allowed it. Molly and Honni (a former dog of mine) enjoyed it, as well as the kids.

But that sounds more like fear than hatred, don't you think? We fear what we don't know. I have to confess, for example, that I hated cats most of my life, till I accidentally got one. I was afraid of them and that cat worked double time to convince me not to be. I feared them because I never had one. I didn't fear dogs because I had them as a kid. So I think often people are more afraid than they are feeling hatred.

TM, it was a joke. It's a standing joke at my house that we're going to make "cat soup" out of Emma because she enjoys sitting in the pots if we don't put them away ASAP.

I'm sorry about asking you for advice... I just figured I could get some unbiased, correct information from you because my vet obviously didn't.

All jokes aside, years ago I read an excellent article by Suzanne Clothier, on the net, called "He only wants to say hi!" a catch cry by owners of rude dogs. At the time April had a bad name for lunging at other dogs when on lead. I made her that way when she was a puppy when we were out walking & dogs wandering the streets would come up to us. I unfortunately would freak out & shoo them away. They should have been locked in their own yards, as its illegal to have dogs unleashed in puplic.

I haven't really read threw the pages but I did read the first couple. I don't really care if someone doesn't like dogs as long as they aren't coming in my home complaining about my dog. That being said I can understand why the lady was upset about a strange dog wandering up to her. I can't stand it when people walk their dog's off leash. Their are laws for a reason!

okay I didn't miss much I was a good girl and read the entire thread ^.^ I can understand why people don't like certain animals. I like all animals but there are deffinatly some I would never own. I have pet peeves. Such as I can't stand when unfixed out door male tomcats spray around my house! both my cats are indoor and fixed so I know it isn't that hard to fix your cat! Stinky smell yuck.
